Timeless Textures Layout

Two years ago I created a digitally scrap booked album for my son’s 21st. I wanted to print one of the layouts for my own album but 12X12 single layouts are really expensive to print so I got a smaller 8X8 softcover album printed with that layout and some others I had done digitally. I cut out each layout and incorporated them into a 12X12 layout for my album.

This one I matted on some Garden Green and then on to a Pool Party stamped background using Timeless Textures. Simple but quite effective. I did the same thing with this layout but treated the digital print as I would a photo I was scrapbooking. You might remember seeing that page a few years ago when I did it, so pleased to finally get it in my album.

We Will Remember Them

Tomorrow is Anzac Day. For those of you who are not from New Zealand or Australia this is the day we set aside each year to remember and honour those who fell fighting for our country. Anzac Day was originally to honour the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli against the Ottoman Empire during World War I, which was 100 years ago this year. Although not formally observed until 1920, Anzac Day gatherings happened right from the time the news of the horrific Gallipoli landing arrived in New Zealand. 2721 New Zealanders lost their lives in this Campaign. So many sons, brothers, fathers, husbands, nephews, grandsons and friends never to see another day. I have created a digital layout in remembrance of men in my family tree who lost their lives in World War One, including two who died at Gallipoli.

Im a Master

Wow after being away camping for nearly a month Im finally getting through the last of my 100’s of emails and discovered that I had been named MDS Monday’s Master for the MDSM 93 Challenge! Here is what they said about my layout

“I love Lisa’s attention to detail!  Look at all that stitching, and the pretty little stamps and embellishments she’s placed all over her page!!!  Yet, the center of attention is still very clearly the photo.  In addition, the theme of the page is so well documented.  This is just lovely!  ~ Tami”

MDSM93-002

And here is what I did with it

I love the colours and the stitching detail would you believe there are 44 elements used in this simple looking layout. I love that you can change the colours of elements too I changed the lace to Baked Brown Sugar and fussy coloured the flourish stamps too. Lots of fun and now off to bed!

MDS Monday Duo

Hi folks as you all probably know there is only another week left of Sale a Bration …Shock …Horror… you had all forgotten hadn’t you! But I haven’t and I wanted to share with you a card I made for the MDS Monday Challenge using the new Dynamic Duos Combo which is actually a threesome this week. Part of the MDSM challenge was to change the colour of  your DSP so just to show the versatility of My Digital Studio I did. I used the One Big Sale A Bration 2014 Digital Ensemble ( my first SAB freebie, Ya gotta love FREE) and changed the papers to suit the colours of the DD Challenge.

Stitched with Love MDSM54

I have spent the last week or so sunk knee-deep in Paperwork but tonight I abandoned all that to the corner to CREATE! Of course I had a big sort out of papers today and my work top is very tidy for me so I don’t want to mess it up before I get back down to it tomorrow. Instead I created digitally using the MDS Monday card sketch as my inspiration. I actually really love this one and will probably give it a go traditionally too.

So I added the Decorative Dots (SAB download) as a layer over the base card and gave it a drop shadow so it looks like embossing. I used SAB brush sets, See Ya Later and Banner Blast. I cropped the heart off the top of the sentiment and added Black layers behind the banners and the two smaller ones have a coloured layer the same size behind them too. My Stitches embellishments came in handy to frame the Smoky Slate paper (Sweet Sorbet DSP – SAB download) and to “stitch” down the twine over the banners. The final touch was a diamante over the O in love.

Kokeshi Birthday Beauties

Ok folks here is something completely different from my usual, not only does it use a digital stamp image, but I didn’t use a challenge to base the card on!! Amazed aren’t you.

I was inspired by some cool party bags I got for my daughters birthday party which feature  lots of lovely Japanese Kokeshi Dolls and decided to make that the theme for her invites. Kokeshi Dolls are traditional Japanese dolls made of wood, they have a larger than usual head and a long body but no arms or legs. They usually have painted on features and are decorated with flower designs but like all things creative that was up to the creator.

I found this image here and thought I could colour them in easily and of course they are very similar looking to my wee girl although she DOES have arms and legs!

Each card features a different colourway, and I added a wee flower punch to her hair centred with a tiny diamante. The dolls themselves were printed on Whisper White cardstock then coloured , cut out leaving a border around the image then mounted using dimensionals on a matted piece of a retired DSP that looked vaguely Asian Inspired. Using another retired product, the Easter Blossom Stamp set, I stamped the cherry blossom branch twice straight on the card and then roughly coloured the flowers that would show.

“Youre Invited” is from a current set called  A Dozen Thoughts Its quite a simple card with a bold image that does all the work but I love it and I hope my daughter and her friends do too!DSCF4025 (640x441)

P.S I not crazy enough to invite 8 kids for a party- only 5 LOL, but I though this would make a gorgeous birthday card too so I did a few extras : )
