I was asked recently (twice actually) to make cards for ladies who had lost babies. As a Mother I can understand the pain and loss of losing a baby whether they have been in your arms for a time or just nestled in your belly. These are some of the very hardest cards to make and the hardest words to find. This card was accompanied by a remembrance candle too.
Oh I wish this border punch was still current, I found out it was on the retiring list before the one I had ordered had even arrived : ( Never mind, Im still going to use it and Im sure you could substitute another border, lace or ribbon. The colours are Soft Sky, Island Indigo, Smoky Slate and Whisper White. I added accents with my White Stampin’ Chalk Marker (page 163 of the Annual Catalogue).
P.S Did you notice the bow trick? This is a great way to add a bow with Bakers twine, all you have to do is staple over the flat piece of twine and then tie it into a bow. The bow pretty much hides the staple if you have used our Handheld Stapler ( page 160 of the Annual Catalogue) as it has smaller than the usual stapler staples. and a longer reach than many of the small staplers. Check it out!
I have been following a great blog for a while now by a lady called Connie Stewart and she does these clever cards called Flash Cards. The pieces come in two sizes Flash Card and Flash Card 2.0 and the idea is you have a whole lot precut and then you can pull them out to make quick easy cards! She explains it a whole lot better than me so you should check out her You tube video here to learn more. She is of course using US A4 size card so our measurements for NZ/AUS are a little different. I got busy in the recent school holidays and cut a whole heap of pieces from full A4 sheets and with my scrap stash. I am storing the Card bases and both sets of Flash Card pieces in a shoe box.
Heres one I made using Flash Card 2.0 pieces and of course Everything Eleanor. I also used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch to shape the tops of the two pieces then added some ribbon. The flower stem makes a great line or grid background. Quick, easy and cute!
Here is the video for Flash Cards 2.0 by Connie Stewart
I had occasion recently to have to create two sad cards when a wee man I knew passed unexpectedly. It’s so always so hard to create sympathy cards but even harder when it is for a child.
Soft and subtle using paper from the Moonlight DSP stack, the star mask and star punch from Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack
This one uses a stamp from a set from last year called Best of Brides and Babies.
This was an amazing effort for a first go at the tecnique I taught last Sunday at my Papercrafters Day. Tonny did a great job with the colours and stamping too creating this simple but very effective card. The birds are postioned just right!
On Sunday I taught this fun new (to me) Technique at my Papercrafters Day. My ladies loved the effects you could get and a couple tried it there and then! I will share more samples with you later in the week. It was based on a few different tutorials I have seen which all had different names but the basic technique for all of them seems to be SPRITZ and SMOOSH so that’s what I’m calling it!
I was playing around with it a little and created that central design and then thought “Hey thats pretty similar to the Try Stampin On Tuesday sketch” so that was how I finished it.
So the basic idea with this one was that I used my markers on an acrylic block to create layers of colour to create this scene, then gave it a spritz of water with my Stampin’ Spritzer (these have a lovely fine mist) and then Smooshed it onto the card. Simple
Hi folks as you all probably know there is only another week left of Sale a Bration …Shock …Horror… you had all forgotten hadn’t you! But I haven’t and I wanted to share with you a card I made for the MDS Monday Challenge using the new Dynamic Duos Combo which is actually a threesome this week. Part of the MDSM challenge was to change the colour of your DSP so just to show the versatility of My Digital Studio I did. I used the One Big Sale A Bration 2014 Digital Ensemble ( my first SAB freebie, Ya gotta love FREE) and changed the papers to suit the colours of the DD Challenge.
So as you will know there is a new Stampin’ Up! Supplementary catalogue being released soon (28 Jan) and as you may not know one of the benefits of being a Demonstrator is being able to order new product before it is released to the public. I was able to order some new product earlier this month including this cute set Petite Petals with coordinating punch and then of course make this card.
The dotty pattern along the side is from another new stamp set called Happy Watercolor and so is the sentiment.
I have a pile of these new OCCASIONS catalogues waiting to go in you hot little hands so flick me an email if you would like one firstname.lastname@example.org
My poor Dad took a tumble off a ladder yesterday and did himself some damage so to cheer him up a little I made him this card
Being that Im not very bright at the time of day I was making this (anytime before lunchtime really) I needed a little help so I took a wander through my “Inspiration files” and found a couple of cards that fired off an idea and then grabbed the Dynamic Duo colour challenge for this week which happened to be Real Red and Bermuda Bay. I had to substitute Coastal Cabana which is a bit lighter but still looks awesome
