Mixed media, Scrapbooking, travellers notebook

So I guess you want to know where I’ve been…..

I’ve been exploring people! And I’ve been to some wild places considering I never left home. I have been having some fun with different medias and formats. Lately Ive popped back into Scrapbooking, if I ever really left it at all.

Here’s a wee a sampling of my creations. Mixed Media Altered Book Pages, Collage, Drawing and Water colouring, Travellers Notebook listing and memory keeping pages.

The papers I used for Page 5 were a bit more vintagy looking so it has quite a different look to the earlier pages. Page 5 covers December 21st to 24th which is only 4 days there was plenty to fill them finishing on Christmas Eve with my darling Granddaughter sprinkling her reindeer food on the lawn! Looking at it now I may have to go back and change that second card along the bottom because the colour is glaringly out of place, not sure how I missed that! I still have to get photos printed for Christmas Day but luckily Digitalmax has a 9 c print deal until Jan 28th.

9 Cute mini layouts and 3 journaling cards for December 16th  to 20th –  lots of writing for this page on lovely decorated journal cards.

3 Clever Tips:

  • Take a screen shot of a text conversation, especially if you don’t have a photo for that moment
  • Stamp a label or two to stick out behind a photo to write your journaling on
  • Didn’t get a photo of you baking? Then add a photo of your cup of tea and treats when you are ready to eat them!

Here we are with Days 11-15! I used those cute little trees from Watercolor Christmas down the bottom too. These little mini layouts (pocket Page cards) are a great way to use up those scraps that often get thrown away.

A few ways I have used them:

  • punched circles and other shapes
  • banners
  • strips
  • tags
  • fussy cutting ( the church in the top right corner)

Here is Dec 6-10. Had to protect the innocent on this and the next few pages hence the blob circles on the photos. most of the supplies are Stampin’ Up! but I also used some printables etc I picked up off the internet.

I fussy cut a few pieces from Designer paper on this layout so I could use them to flash up some corners. I again used my Merry Mice Stamp Set which gives some continuity to the whole project. Also punched circles make a great accent.

Daily in December ….. Maybe

OK this is the year! I have watched a heap of Youtube videos on December Daily and similar Christmas/December documenting projects over the last while and so this year I’m going to give it a go.

I decided to do it as a section in my usual scrapbook using pocket pages rather than a separate album as most fold seem to do. I’m trying to keep it simple and achievable. I’ve made up some “foundation pages” which I can add photos and stories straight to. The first page has a 4X6 intro card as well. Here the pages I have set up so check back over the next few weeks and see how I’m getting on with this challenge.

I have used a Designer Series Paper pack from the Seasonal Catalogue called Merry Little Christmas plus lots of leftover bits from retired Christmas packs. The two stamp sets I have used so far are Merry Mice from the Annual Catalogue and Watercolour Christmas from the Seasonal catalogue

Scrapbooking

You wont believe….

You just will not believe how many scrapbook layouts and cards I have completed over the last 6 months that have not seen the light of day on my blog. I confess to you that I am quite ashamed I havent been blogging much (READ – barely at all) this year. No excuses Ive been rubbish at it. I have posted a bit more on my Facebook page and I even had a go at a wee short Facebook LIVE video. Need a much better set up than I have for that but hey who knows what the future holds!

I have been frequenting YouTube a lot more and have started following a few different creators, one of whom, is Dearly Dee. Its always nice to find a Youtuber from your own little country and Dee has inspired me no end. I have discovered Travellers Notebooks through her and have now made a pile of my own and started experimenting with them so watch this space. I love that I can use up lots of wee scraps of paper on them and that it feels much more “free” than a scrapbook page.

Anyway for all your patience I’m going to give you a little gallery of some of my scrapbook layouts. The photos are a bit shocking, really think I need a new camera but at least it gives you something to look at. Please do excuse the blobs and boxes, I’m just trying to protect the innocent!!

One with me, using scraps

I loved  Jenifer Hignite’s layout as soon as I saw it and knew it would be a good one to CAS(E) . Her’s was a digital layout so much easier to line up all the strips but I dont think I did too bad a job thanks to my trusty metal ruler. Here is the layout

p1090277

I used some old retired paper that I love but only had strips left ot. All the strips are 1″ wide and most started out as 2″ lengths. Here is how I used my ruler to line up the pieces as I glued them down.

p1090272You can see the narrow even strip on the left of the ruler, I just held the ruler steady and butted up the next column against the edge. Viola!
