Ive been working on a wee project, which I cant show you yet, so I had a nicely stamped project life card sitting on my desk which in the end I decided not to use. Then when I was flicking through some challenge sites I spotted this one from CAS(E) This sketch
Well I flipped that sucker on its head and here is what I came up with!
Here is a closer look at the original PL cards (3X4″)
Can you see the darker shadowing on the screwdriver and hammer handles? I used my Tip Top Taupe Inkpad and a blender pen to add some depth to them. I used the same method to colour all the tools and added fussy cut handles stamped tone on tone. Not too bad! The stamp set is my new Nailed It one. The colours are Dapper Denim, Real Red and Tip Top Taupe.
I love the colours and the stitching detail would you believe there are 44 elements used in this simple looking layout. I love that you can change the colours of elements too I changed the lace to Baked Brown Sugar and fussy coloured the flourish stamps too. Lots of fun and now off to bed!
Hi folks as you all probably know there is only another week left of Sale a Bration …Shock …Horror… you had all forgotten hadn’t you! But I haven’t and I wanted to share with you a card I made for the MDS Monday Challenge using the new Dynamic Duos Combo which is actually a threesome this week. Part of the MDSM challenge was to change the colour of your DSP so just to show the versatility of My Digital Studio I did. I used the One Big Sale A Bration 2014 Digital Ensemble ( my first SAB freebie, Ya gotta love FREE) and changed the papers to suit the colours of the DD Challenge.
This card uses one of the sets I bought early on in my career as a Stampin’ Up demo, it had already retired but I love it and have never been able to part with it.
Its called All Mixed Up! Too cute huh! Great for boy but the ballet dancer was the answer for this card.
Just for a change it doesn’t use a sketch!!! but I did base the colours on the Dynamic Duos challenge although I did use Crumb cake rather than Sahara Sand as I didn’t have any. And it is a challenge to only use 2 colours plus neutrals on your card especially when colouring images. That’s when a Blender Pen or Aqua Painter comes in handy so I could squiggle some ink onto an acrylic block and use my Blender Pen to add a lighter shade of the same colour.
Other Supplies I used included: Banner Punch (SAB) Glitter Paper, Some retired DSP and a wee piece from the Fresh Prints stack (Occassions) , Scallop Trim Border Punch, Paper piercing Tool, Mat and template and markers in Blush Blossom (retired), Blushing Bride and Crumb Cake. You cant see it but the heart the girl has is covered in Dazzling Diamonds.
I had a little bit of fun with the Sunburst technique which is the one I’m teaching at my Coffee and Cards class on Wednesday. It also happens to be the Just Add Ink Challenge this week too! I needed a birthday card for a wee boy and I saw a couple I kind of liked, one by Veronica Kettle and some punch art by “the Crafty Owl”. Oh I miss Punch art … sigh…. but I changed this up a bit to make it mine. He’s an awesome wee guy and only a little scary!
As usual I was inspired by a challenge blog and this one is new One-Layer Simplicity Challenge now I don’t do a lot of one layer cards so this is a good challenge for me and I think I cracked it!
I even got a bit adventuress with my supplies – I made the stamps! Yes that’s right made them. I used some of the Rubber sheet that our stamps are die cut out of to create my larger circle stamps and a couple of cotton buds for the dots. The colours are Coastal Cabana, Pistachio Pudding, Smoky Slate and Crisp Cantaloupe. I made a lot of these cards which are so quick and easy but very effective and will be mailing them out to some lucky folks soon.
Not long now till the next supplementary catalogue and Sale-A-Bration start watch out for a sneak peek tomorrow
ME! I took advantage of the special last week and got Gorgeous Grunge and A Dozen Thoughts and earned Wetlands as well. Yippee!
The smell of new rubber was in the air last night as the Try Stamping on Tuesday Challenge pooped up in my Inbox and so I whipped out Wetlands and Gorgeous Grunge to make this card
So glad I got this set the birds are FAB and the greetings are such a nice font too. The white markings on the bird are done with the White Stampin’ Chalk Marker in the Holiday Catalogue on page 20. I discovered that you can add colour over it with markers just like the Whitewash technique I showed a few months ago
My poor Dad took a tumble off a ladder yesterday and did himself some damage so to cheer him up a little I made him this card
Being that Im not very bright at the time of day I was making this (anytime before lunchtime really) I needed a little help so I took a wander through my “Inspiration files” and found a couple of cards that fired off an idea and then grabbed the Dynamic Duo colour challenge for this week which happened to be Real Red and Bermuda Bay. I had to substitute Coastal Cabana which is a bit lighter but still looks awesome
Gosh I have a lot of cards to make at the moment, lots of babies coming along plus birthdays too. The two cards I have for you today are based on the same sketch from Clean and Simple Stamping.
I started off making a baby card but then didn’t think the wee girl image from retired stamp set Easter Blossoms quite did it for me so it became a birthday card! For both cards I used the Doilies Sizzlit die to frame the images and the same colour way of Blushing Bride, Strawberry Slush and Baked Brown Sugar inspired by the CASE Study Challenge #163
I added lots of Paper piercing and faux stitching to the birthday card too
And now for the baby card, a much cleaner design but still with little touches of wow!
The butterflies came from two retired sets I had and the pink dotties are the lichen stamp from the also retired French Foliage. I’m looking forward to getting my hands on my new set of Gorgeous Grunge which will be here soon. The onsie is of course from the Baby Tees Jumbo wheel. I have just unmounted mine and I’m in the process of mounting them separately onto Clear mount Cling Foam ( page 197 of the annual catalog 2 sheets 21.6 X 28 cm for $22.95) The sentiment is Itty Bitty Banners and the card was finished off with some rhinestones and faux stitching
