Cheerful Critters Latch Card
I revisited this awesome retired set, Cheerful Critters, to make this card for my nieces birthday recently. The tutorial I used for this Latch Card was from Splitcoaststampers, you can find it here.
The gorgeous birthday candles paper is from the Cherry on Top DSP Stack ( # 138443 page 144 $17.00). I water coloured all the cutesy animals with Stampin’ Write Markers which I scribbled on an acrylic block and picking up the colour with an Aquapainter. The words on the front are from Crazy about You and inside is a gorgeous one from the Cottage Greetings set.
We are counting down now to September 1st when the new Holiday catalogue goes live. My supply of these has just arrived so if you would like to get your hands on one of these then leave me a comment or flick me an email at moocowgen@ihug.co.nz
Grungy Bunny
I had to make a quick birthday card for my daughter’s friend and I had seen this awesome background made with Gorgeous Grunge and some fun bright colours. I used the Happy Birthday from Cottage Greetings set which has such a lovely font. The bunny is from Made With Love I trimmed off the greeting part of that stamp so I could use it separately. I used Smoky Slate ink and an Aqua Painter Pen to add color to the bunny, details were added with Pink Pirouette Marker.
Eleanor Squared
Told ya I love my markers! I never get rid of any of them when they retire so have a whole heap of them, some of which I used to colour these awesome flowers. Basically I start with the palest colour all over the flower then add the medium colour over the “etched lines” before adding the darkest colour on some of the edges and closest to the centre of the flower plus all the shadowy bits. Then came the Gorgeous Grunge for a bit of interest. That frame stamp makes quite a good background too. The sentiment is from Cottage Greetings
Self Close Box and Matching Card
This is a really cool box, I love that it stays shut by itself. I used paper from the Cherry On Top 6X6 paper stack. The sentiment is from Cottage Greetings. I added some punch art cherries using 3/4″ circle and 1 1/4″ Circle double punched for the leaf. Of course the Bow was made using the Bow Builder Punch.
To open the box simply squeeze the edges and it pops open.
You can watch the tutorial video by Sara Lincoln that I used for making the self close box HERE
Build A Birthday CAKE finally!
Well you have waited patiently so here it is.
I love these colours together – Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow and Pear Pizzazz. The candles make great wee banners and of course the splotches are from that go to set Gorgeous Grunge.
Build a Birthday Flowerpot
One more day before the cake but today its a flower-pot! I do love to get the most out of a stamp set that I can and when I flipped this stamp upside down I also happened to be scanning through the buy – sell pages on Facebook and saw some planters. **Lightbulb moment** I can do that! especially using the wee flowers from Sprinkles of Life and pairing them with the Happy Blooming Birthday sentiment from Flower Patch.
I also managed to use my new Boho Chic Embossing Folder and some paper from the Cherry on Top 6X6 DSP Stack
Build a Birthday variation 1
Hi folks I have some cards to share with you over the next few days and the first set I am showcasing is Build A Birthday. Funny how I have only managed to make ONE birthday cake card with it but many other designs.
The first one I have for you is kind of like book spines or washi stripes. I used a ripped piece of post it note to mask the top end of each “cake layer”. I used 3 of the new In Colours Delightful Dijon, Cucumber Crush and Mint Macaron with a little touch of Early Espresso.
I have to say I am loving my Hello You Thinlits and Im saving up for the smaller Greetings Thinlits.
Remember you can check out the new catalogue online HERE I will be putting in an order on Monday morning if you wish to order anything thru me or you can use this months HOSTESS CODE RPQ6GA76 and order online HERE Its easy to set up an account but if you have any problems feel free to email me at moocowgen@ihug.co.nz : )
Flashback – Girly Birthday
This card uses one of the sets I bought early on in my career as a Stampin’ Up demo, it had already retired but I love it and have never been able to part with it.
Its called All Mixed Up! Too cute huh! Great for boy but the ballet dancer was the answer for this card.
Just for a change it doesn’t use a sketch!!! but I did base the colours on the Dynamic Duos challenge although I did use Crumb cake rather than Sahara Sand as I didn’t have any. And it is a challenge to only use 2 colours plus neutrals on your card especially when colouring images. That’s when a Blender Pen or Aqua Painter comes in handy so I could squiggle some ink onto an acrylic block and use my Blender Pen to add a lighter shade of the same colour.
Other Supplies I used included: Banner Punch (SAB) Glitter Paper, Some retired DSP and a wee piece from the Fresh Prints stack (Occassions) , Scallop Trim Border Punch, Paper piercing Tool, Mat and template and markers in Blush Blossom (retired), Blushing Bride and Crumb Cake. You cant see it but the heart the girl has is covered in Dazzling Diamonds.
Sunburst Surprise
I had a little bit of fun with the Sunburst technique which is the one I’m teaching at my Coffee and Cards class on Wednesday. It also happens to be the Just Add Ink Challenge this week too! I needed a birthday card for a wee boy and I saw a couple I kind of liked, one by Veronica Kettle and some punch art by “the Crafty Owl”. Oh I miss Punch art … sigh…. but I changed this up a bit to make it mine. He’s an awesome wee guy and only a little scary!
And here he is on my Sunburst Card
