Southern Serenade CASE

I couldn’t resist trying another CASE from the Occasions Catalogue, this time from page 49. This one is pretty similar in style with just a few substitutions for things I didn’t have.

Two cards, one sketch CASE

I decided to CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) the Catalogue and used the daffodil card from Page 30 of the Occasions Catalogue. I CASEd it not once but twice! This first card using Southern Serenade is quite similar with the main image on white tilted to one side , a base of DSP and a flagged sentiment strip. But I swapped the button for a small fussy cut flower bumped up on a dimensional and added 2 punched out vellum leaf branches using the Leaf Punch.

For the Second card I replaced the DSP(Designer Series Paper) with a piece of card embossed using the stems one of the Petal Pair Embossing folders. I matted the the central image  of the peacock from SAB Exclusive Beautiful Peacock on Cajun Craze. The main image has a few wraps of gold Metallic Thread around the bottom and the final touch was the accent strip under the Sentiment piece.

The catalogues aren’t just pretty to look at, they are a great resource to help you be creative as well. Be sure to have a go at CASEing one of the beautiful creations in them soon

Happiest of Days Gift Set

A certain someone I know has a birthday coming up and I made this card and, yes,  its THAT box again for her. I have a lovely wee piece of jewellery to go in it. Dont you love the curly ribbon on the paper clip! I just used the back edge of my scissors and pulled the ribbon through against them and my thumb. Just like making paper curls. This method works for bakers twine too.

I don’t usually do pretty insides of my cards but the left over piece from the card front just screamed to be added.

Basket Weave Sitting Here

Hi folks here is the card I made using the Basket Weave Dynamic Embossing folder and my Sitting Here Stamp Set. To add a bit more dimension I gently rubbed over some colour with a Stampin’ Sponge and some Soft Suede Ink. Bit hard to see in the photo but check back to the box I posted last. I think you can see it better there.

I love the colour combo of Crumb Cake, Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist.

Panda Notecard

Hi folks here is another version of the card I posted yesterday. Same cut but I have added 2 strips of the Tutti Frutti Washi Tape from Page 29 of the Occasions Catalogue along the front cut edge and then stamped the birthday sentiment down the inside edge. The stamp set is only available for a limited time as a Sale- A – Bration reward when you spend $110. It is called Party Pandas.

As you can  I forgot to prime the stamp before using it for the first time and it resulted in a patchy image. Often with these solid images you need to clean the factory mold release agent residue off the them and sometimes just give them a rub over with your hand, a rubber eraser or something similar. Then you get lovely crisp solid images. It also helps to have a well inked stamp pad.

Saturday’s Project

What a great day we had on Saturday at our first Christchurch Extravaganza! We had 5 awesome teachers including myself and 1 super organised “manager” for the day to support us all. It was very busy and lots of fun meeting new people and reconnecting with the familiar.

My project was a reasonably quick and simple one which once everything was cut and scored I could stamp and put together in 5 minutes! The speed of this means its also quite versatile and great for those moments when you need a card in a hurry or a wee gift box. The other thing I liked about it was that the box is super easy to score and has very little waste. You can get 2 boxes from one piece of A4 card.

The light was rather strong when I took the photo so it may be a bit hard to see the powder pink stamping of the large lacy image behind the flower bunch on the card and all over the box.

I  used the Southern Serenade Stamp Set From the Occasions catalogue (Page 49) available in  wood #145918 $61; or  Clear #145921 $44. The card is one of the Note Card and Envelopes on  p.195 (Whisper White #131527 $12.75),  and what you cant see is I trimmed 1 cm off the long front edge then stamped the lace trim image along the inside long edge using Lemon Lime Twist. So Pretty.  I used A4 Thick Whisper White Cardstock  (p.194 #140490 $15) ,this cardstock makes your box a bit more sturdy.

Check out tomorrows post when I show you another version of this card

The Masked Butterfly

Hi folks just wanted to share the card demo’d at my party on Wednesday. It used a few techniques, Masking, sponging and collaged stamps. I love the effect and the sponging is so simple but looks really effective. You might remember I use it on this card back in January when I first played with my In This World stamp set.

Its a fun wee Z type fold.

Dont forget to place your SAB qualifying orders before the 31st.

Butterfly Circles

I saw a similar card recently but cant find it again to credit the maker now. I thought it was such a visually effective card that I had to CASE it too. I do have an original idea now and then in case you are wondering but I am also inspired by the beautiful work other crafters produce. I do like to try an acknowledge where the inspiration came from but sometimes that not possible.

I’ve used In this World again and also Timeless Textures and for the Sentiment Love Sparkles.

I coloured the butterflies using Blender Pens and my ink pads. All you have to do is gently squeeze your ink pad when it is closed to transfer some ink to the inside of the lid and then use it like a palette to pick up the ink with the Blender Pen.

Beautiful Butterflies Card

This one is definitely going in my favourite cards pile, I love how it came out. The fussy cutting was a bit annoying because I cant find my fabulous Stampin’ Up! Scissors which are awesome for doing this but the effort was worth it.

p1090313

Ive used the In This World stamp Set again and stamped all the images in Memento Tuxedo Black before using Sponges to colour them. The 4 ink colours I chose are Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party and Elegant Eggplant. As I said the Butterflies are fussy cut and then I mounted them with Dimensionals over the a whole stamped image of the butterfly. Still love using my sponges to add colour. I love how it mixes and changes subtly.
