Elegant Gingham

On the weekend of the Great Flood here in Leeston I had flown out early Saturday morning to Auckland for a team training event. We usually make cards to swap amongst ourselves and my one used…. Yes you guessed it Simply Pressed Clay blossoms and the Gingham Standard Wheel! I promise I will show you something different next time : )

I broke out Everything Eleanor again for her elegant swirl, gorgeous flowers and pretty motif, then using all of the new In colours created my swap cards. It was interesting to see which colours went first ( I gave the ladies the choice) First to go was Pistachio Pudding then Crisp Cantaloupe and Coastal Cabana leaving me a couple of spare Strawberry Slush.

P1010840 (640x341) The sentiment is from Bring on the Cake and the Elegant Butterflies are embossed using the snowflake design from Delicate Designs Embossing Folders. I spritzed the cards after stamping and before attaching any of the layers with Baked Brown Sugar ink/Water mix with just a wee touch of the Vanilla Smooch Spritz added in a Stampin’ Spritzer bottle. I really needed to speed up my flower production for the volume of cards I was making so I hatched a cunning plan. Add dazzling diamonds to the molds before I pushed in the clay and then they popped right out so I could put them aside to dry. My wee Air New Zealand tea spoons are just the best for getting tiny amounts of glitter or embossing powder in just the right place! And just to finish the card off I added a double bow using Whisper White Bakers Twine and some diamantes to the Butterfly

Barbies Big Adventure Layout

As some of you know I got my first Barbie Doll for my 40th Birthday last year and she came on a trip with me to Rotorua ( I wanted her to be well travelled). She had her photo taken in a few spots around Rotorua although I didnt want her to get too close to the hot pools in case she melted. I waited 40 years for her you know! Anyway it was her photos I pulled out to showcase some of the new products. Namely the Gingham Standard Wheel, Simply Pressed Clay Blossoms, Gingham Garden DSP and new In Colours Pistachio Pudding and Coastal Cabana. Apologies for the flash spot on the photo : )

P1010911 (611x640) I also used the fern from Everything Eleanor, MDS to do the title  ( in another new colour Bermuda Bay), Tea Lace Paper Doilies and Wisteria Wonder Ink and Card stock (so glad this colour gets to stay : ) oops forgot my trusty Paper piercer, I used that too!

I found the DSP I used wasnt quite right  (only found that out AFTER I had stuck everything down, as the light changed GRRRR) so I used Pistachio Pudding and a sponge to alter the colour of the paper. Magic. I also used them to sponge colour onto the Doilies which are white.

I showed Barbie and she quite liked her page especially the flowers which were coloured with Elegant Eggplant and Wisteria Wonder Inks.

Simply Pressed Clay Embellishments for Baby

Hi folks here is the card I shared with my Newsletter friends last night using Simply Pressed Clay to create unique embellishments for this cute baby card. Not only can you use the Simply Pressed Clay with the molds but you can make free form shapes as well. It will stick to itself easily so you can join pieces like I have done here. I coloured the babies face using Crisp Cantaloupe and made the eyes using a toothpick rubbed on a Basic Black ink pad. In fact a toothpick makes a great clay tool.  The pink pieces I coloured using Raspberry Ripple. It takes 24-48 hours for the clay to cure completely and then they can be secured to your project. I have been using Tombo Mono Multi Glue with great results. DO NOT dry them on paper as they will stick to it I have been using either a plastic bag or my Silicone Craft Sheet (page 175)

P1010873 (640x356) Also on this card I used the new Gingham Standard Wheel with Raspberry Ripple to make the borders of the card. I’m still working on getting a good even roll from this wheel with the new style pads as they are very juicy. Any hints gratefully accepted!! The mat for the whisper white frame section is new In Colour Crisp Cantaloupe (looove it!) Not particularly classic colours for a wee girl card but happy and bright is always good.P1010884 (508x640)
