Elegant Eleanor

Oh I wish this border punch was still current, I found out it was on the retiring list before the one I had ordered had even arrived : ( Never mind, Im still going to use it and Im sure you could substitute another border, lace or ribbon. The colours are Soft Sky, Island Indigo, Smoky Slate and Whisper White. I added accents with my White Stampin’ Chalk Marker (page 163 of the Annual Catalogue).

P.S Did you notice the bow trick? This is a great way to add a bow with Bakers twine, all you have to do is staple over the flat piece of twine and then tie it into a bow. The bow pretty much hides the staple if you have used our Handheld Stapler ( page 160 of the Annual Catalogue) as it has smaller than the usual stapler staples. and a longer reach than many of the small staplers. Check it out!

Eleanor Squared

Told ya I love my markers! I never get rid of any of them when they retire so have a whole heap of them, some of which I used to colour these awesome flowers. Basically I start with the palest colour  all over the flower then add the medium colour  over the “etched lines” before adding the darkest colour on some of the edges and closest to the centre of the flower plus all the shadowy bits. Then came the Gorgeous Grunge for a bit  of interest. That frame stamp makes quite a good background too. The sentiment is from Cottage Greetings

Flash Birdies

Something a bit different for me but I was playing. You would never guess this is card is made using Flash Card pieces like I was talking about earlier in the week. You can check out Flash Cards by Connie Stewart HERE to see what Im talking about. Both the coloured piece and the white piece are cut diagonally. then one set goes long ways across the bottom and then you FLIP the other one and it goes longways UP the card. Be sure to do your stamping on the card base (and triangles) BEFORE you glue the pieces to the card base.  The flowers were punched  from the coloured triangles. You never see the spaces once its all stuck together. I do love to make my own papers and one of the most useful stamp sets for that is Gorgeous Grunge its a great “filler” and means you can add more colour and details to your designs without overdoing it.

Add Butterfly

Hi Folks its Weekly Deals Day so don’t forget to check them out HERE ! I love to see what bargains Stampin’ Up! are going to give us each week. Here is another card using Everything Eleanor. This is the medium-sized butterfly from the Butterflies Thinlit dies cut twice and layered together. I had a go using the Rock’n’Roll technique on the flowers.

Blushing Bliss Eleanor

I was playing with some old card swaps I had and as some of them were notecard size or square and I like to keep them to a standard card I got a bit creative. I liked one of the cards I “tweaked” so much that I used the layout again for this one. The sentiment isn’t quite right but it was late and I wasn’t being very inventive (READ: I was too lazy to go find something else LOL). The colours are Blackberry Bliss, Blushing Bride and Pool Party which is a great combo for many occasions.

Flash Card Eleanor

I have been following a great blog for a while now by a lady called Connie Stewart and she does these clever cards called Flash Cards. The pieces come in two sizes Flash Card and Flash Card 2.0 and the idea is you have a whole lot precut and then you can pull them out to make quick easy cards! She explains it a whole lot better than me so you should check out her You tube video here to learn more. She is of course using  US A4 size card so our measurements for NZ/AUS are a little different. I got busy in the recent school holidays and cut a whole heap of pieces from full A4 sheets and with my scrap stash. I am storing the Card bases and both sets of Flash Card pieces in a shoe box.

Heres one I made using Flash Card 2.0 pieces and of course Everything Eleanor. I also used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch to shape the tops of the two pieces then added some ribbon. The flower stem makes a great line or grid background. Quick, easy and cute!

Spotlight Eleanor

Today’s Eleanor creation uses two techniques – Spotlighting and Triple Time stamping; I just did two layers of stamping instead of three. Splitcoaststampers have tutorials for Triple Time  and Spotlighting. I love my Stampin’ Write  Markers! This would make a great sympathy card too.

Eleanor with funny scrappy strip background

Hi folks Im back with heaps of new ideas and gorgeous cards. For the next few days I am concentrating on an older stamp set called Everything Eleanor which is available in Wood and Clearmount

I had all these strips of coloured card sitting on my table and I hate to waste them so I glued them all onto a piece of scrap paper butting them up tight to each other. Then I cut the whole piece into various sized strips then offset them to create this background. It could be called Bargello??? Im sure one of you clever people will be able to tell me! : )

Next comes the Everything Eleanor stamp set. I stamped the biggest flower and 2 of the medium flower then stamped two of the leafy branch from the Crazy About You stamp set. A leafy branch is the one thing that is missing from this set but it does have a gorgeous flourish! Lastly I added some pearls, Dimensionals under the big flower and the wee bird stamp. The sentiment is from the new Build a Birthday stamp set
