Cards Masculine, Challenges

CAS(E) This sketch, my manly take

Ive been working on a wee project, which I cant show you yet, so I had a nicely stamped project life card sitting on my desk which in the end I decided not to use. Then when I was flicking through some challenge sites I spotted this one from CAS(E) This sketch

Well I flipped that sucker on its head and here is what I came up with!

p1090278

Here is a closer look at the original PL cards (3X4″)

p1090279

Can you see the darker shadowing on the screwdriver and hammer handles? I used my Tip Top Taupe Inkpad and a blender pen to add some depth to them. I used the same method to colour all the tools  and added fussy cut handles stamped tone on tone. Not too bad! The stamp set is my new Nailed It one. The colours are Dapper Denim, Real Red and Tip Top Taupe.

Nailed It!

I love so many of the sets in this new Occasions Catalogue but of course like everyone else I dont have an endless budget so I looked to fill gaps in my collection instead. The biggest gap, and I think it is for many of us, is stamp sets for Masculine cards so I chose this one. Nailed It

How cute… um I mean MANLY is that. I love the little faces so you can change it up for a small man child or a humorous card. I had a special order for Birthday invites (which I cant share right now) and used a simple sketch which I thought would really suit these set so here it is. I love how the background of screws came out and the colours are great!

Check out Nailed it on page 48 of the Occasions Catalogue. The sentiment is from another new set called Love Sparkles which is on page 53.  You can see the catalogue online HERE or ask me for a paper copy.

Just in case you missed out on any of the goodies from the Holidays Catalogue some of the products have “Carried Over” and are still available for purchase.

Manly 21st

Just a quick card to show you. I know many of you find mens cards tricky but here is an idea that is quick and easy. I have used a “contraband” Non SU golf theme die but it could be replaced by many of the images we have in our catalogue. The colours are Night of Navy Daffodil Delight and Whisper White. I used the Timeless Textures Stamp Set to border around the Whisper White piece.

Guess who got new stamps! TSOT #143

ME! I took advantage of the special last week and got Gorgeous Grunge and A Dozen Thoughts and earned Wetlands as well. Yippee!

The smell of new rubber was in the air last night as the Try Stamping on Tuesday Challenge pooped up in my Inbox and so I whipped out Wetlands and Gorgeous Grunge to make this card

P1020268 (480x640)

So glad I got this set the birds are FAB and the greetings are such a nice font too. The white markings on the bird are done with the White Stampin’ Chalk Marker in the Holiday Catalogue on page 20. I discovered that you can add colour over it with markers just like the Whitewash technique I showed a few months ago

Happy 19

Yesterday my boy turned 19 and yet he will always be “MY Boy” Here is the card I made him.

P1020133 (480x640)

I love this paper pack, Season of Style, Its available in the Holiday catalogue. the colours are great and not just for Christmas. This card is a bit different both for me and from the way I envisioned it but I was happy with it in the end.

The stamps I used came from 2 different sets, Clockworks and Bring on the Cake and all those little cogs are stamped and hand cut! Its hard to see the full effect of  the pocket watch but the frame was embossed with Early Espresso Embossing Powder then cut out, the centre punched out and mounted over an acetate layer then over a second stamped watch. I added a tiny brad to the clock hands. I was pleased with how the laced panel came out, I didnt want anything that looked too girly so tried this.  I decorated  inside too

Happy Scrappy Results

Sorry I didn’t get this post up yesterday, life has this horrible way of jumping in front of me when I plan things. But here we are a day late : )

This is what I did with the 5 of the 6 pieces I showed you on Thursday. Somewhere along the line I misplaced one but I have found it now so maybe tomorrow…..

P1020138 (640x485)

Back Row: A little Crazy Patched piece that I embossed using the Square Lattice folder (stamp from Bring on the Cake); A cool wee Patchwork square which I added pen  stitching lines to (Stamp from Best of.. Christmas) ; Lastly another Patchwork inspired pattern (stamp from Petite pairs)

Front: Striped pattern with various sized strips then paper pierced and faux stitched Zig Zag stitching in Early Espresso (Stamp from So Sorry); Bargello inspired strips placed in a chevron (Stamp from Tag It)

My fav I think is the So Sorry Card

The sets I will miss the  most I think are Coutryside, French Foliage and Artistic Etchings. What set will you miss?

Here is a card I made recently using the countryside stamp set and whitewash technique. It is hard to see in the photo that the truck has white washed highlights, Silvered bumpers and a red sign and apples. I love that the “wishing you a wonderful day” leaves the giver open to use it for many occasions.

Such a clean, simple design but picked up with the details.

Grungy? Vintage? Boy Birthday

Not really sure what style this is but somewhere between grungy and Vintage style with funky colours I think?? Anyway it is the birthday card I made for nephew who is about to turn 10. I was under the wire because my Mum was all but standing over me waiting to pop it in the post for me but I really like the way it came out. Sometimes those are the best cards because you don’t have time to second guess what you are doing, you just make it work!
