Happy 19

Yesterday my boy turned 19 and yet he will always be “MY Boy” Here is the card I made him.

P1020133 (480x640)

I love this paper pack, Season of Style, Its available in the Holiday catalogue. the colours are great and not just for Christmas. This card is a bit different both for me and from the way I envisioned it but I was happy with it in the end.

The stamps I used came from 2 different sets, Clockworks and Bring on the Cake and all those little cogs are stamped and hand cut! Its hard to see the full effect of  the pocket watch but the frame was embossed with Early Espresso Embossing Powder then cut out, the centre punched out and mounted over an acetate layer then over a second stamped watch. I added a tiny brad to the clock hands. I was pleased with how the laced panel came out, I didnt want anything that looked too girly so tried this.  I decorated  inside too

A little something

Today has been a lovely sunny day and I have enjoyed it a lot especially with the bad weather to come this week. I have just a couple of  little cards to show you as I have been busy creating 27 yes 27 cards for  card swap I am doing with my wider team at a team training this weekend. I am so pleased with it and all the beautiful new In Colours I used on it but you will have to wait until after the weekend to see that. In the meantime……

Grungy? Vintage? Boy Birthday

Not really sure what style this is but somewhere between grungy and Vintage style with funky colours I think?? Anyway it is the birthday card I made for nephew who is about to turn 10. I was under the wire because my Mum was all but standing over me waiting to pop it in the post for me but I really like the way it came out. Sometimes those are the best cards because you don’t have time to second guess what you are doing, you just make it work!

Love You Embedded Image

Up until fairly recently I haven’t used embossing powders much but since I got going (and have my Heat Tool out all the time) I am using it much more often. I have been playing a lot of challenges lately and another new one I found is called Technique Tuesday now its a monthly challenge and they teach you a new technique each month. Then its your turn to create something using the technique and add your entry to the challenge. This month it was a technique called Embedded Image. The idea is you stamp and emboss with one colour then stamp over that and emboss with another colour.

P1010351 (516x640)

I have had something like this in my head for a while especially since I saw the  Cross My Heart stamp set on page 26 of the new Seasonal catalogue. Whats that you say…. You haven’t got a new Seasonal Catalogue Yet! Well check out the link in the sidebar of my blog by clicking on the catalogue picture or Email Me for your copy

P1010352 (640x480)

If you look close you can see I embossed using the large splash from Clockworks twice with White   and then added the black letters and grid pattern. I know…who’da thunk it! Now take a closer look at the heart (it is a retired stamp so dont look for it in your catalogues) now this was an accidental discovery but I stamped on the pretty in pink cardstock using Cherry Cobbler then immediately sprayed it with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz and ended up with this veined marble effect as the ink ran in the smooch. Too Gorgeous  The Just Add Ink challenge this week was ADD HEARTS so this one counts for that too!

Just a Shade Late

I have the worst memory in the world and Im always forgetting special occasions so this card is perfect. And guess what ?! It again uses the Dress Up Framelits! The colours are based on the Colour Q Challenge 175 and the layout is from the CAS(e) This Sketch Team , The stamp set is Clockworks and the happy birthday is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments

P1010348 (486x640)

I cut down the mannequin for the lamp base and the scallop edge skirt for the shade which I score in the middle and between each scallop. To make it sit out I added a 3 layered dimensionals near the bottom of the shade and using tombo glue put a fine line down either side of the shade edge to stick it in place . Its hard to see but there is even a wee dangling pull switch on the lamp too

Here was the inspiration:

Cards - Birthday, Cards - General, Cards Masculine, Christmas, Two Cards One Sketch

Two cards one sketch

Im going to try to make this the topic for my Tuesday posts each week but this week its not two but THREE cards one sketch!

Terrible sketch I know but you gt the idea I got the inspiration for this one from a card I had seen in an advert in an old stamping magazine I had. For the first one I used my new fav Clockworks an I think it is my favourite card of these one too. The colourway is Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze and Midnight Muse. To give you idea of size I used 1 1/4″ square and embellished with the mini brads (love those things and they are inexpensive too)

For the next two I used Scentsational Season from the Holiday Catalogue, embellishing with the Silver Dazzling Details glitter glue and Delicate Doilies embellished with Jewels Basic Rhinestones.

Which one is your favourite?

My baby is all growed up (almost)

Today is my Son’s 18th birthday but it seems like only yesterday since we were bringing home from the hospital. My first baby and such an awe inspiring experience, this little human relying solely on me and his father for everything. Yet now he is almost grown and doesnt need us as much but I hope he knows we will always be here for him no matter how old he gets. Ive had lots of time for thinking about times past lately as my grandads partner of 37 years passed away last week and we had her funeral on Friday. It was a sad time  but also a celebration of the lady she was and I know she would have loved having us all together to see her off in style.

All of the great grandchildren put garden flowers on the coffin and mine added a card too (of course) which I will share with you another day because today is about Jordan my almost grown son! Sorry the photos arent up to usual standard but I was using a standby camera which I wasnt quite sure about.

I used my new Clockworks set (p 105 Annual Catalogue) stamped in Midnight Muse, Cajun Craze Summer Starfruit and Crumb Cake with Patterned Papers from the Comfort Cafe DSP pack. The sentiment is from Create A Cupcake. This is a neat wee fold but I tweaked it a little and chose to glue down the front flaps which should  have folded out one more time. Here it is closed with the belly band on and below opened out with the belly band plonked on top.

Right Im off to work on his Birthday tea and help his little sister ice his cake. I also still have a craft entry to finish for tomorrows Ellesmere A & P show.
