Another MDS Springfold for the bloke in your life

I meant to get this posted yesterday but you know how life keeps getting in the way!! Anyway here is a card made with the same base as the Frog Spring fold I showed you a couple of days ago. I added a matted MDS’d image to the front of this one and used the new Honeycomb Embossing Folder ( seasonal catalogue). The card base is made using the Cored’inations Early Espresso cardstock which I sanded off after embossing. Love that!

Brick wall man

Finally got to make a card today after a long dry patch. I should be in bed sound asleep but here I am blogging for you lovely people this simple card.

P1010387 (480x640) Earlier in the week while surfing (and not working ,doing housework OR crafting) I came across an awesome patchwork quilt and cushion someone had made from using squares to form cross patterns. Loved it! and I kept thinking how I could incorporate that into a card until today when I was once again surfing instead of working I came across the Technique Tuesday blog with this months tutorial on Brick Wall cards. Ok so my bricks are square not long but I think it works then I floated past the Seize the Birthday Challenge and grabbed their sketch. Then in  a flurry of cardstock, trimmers and adhesive this card was born. Each square is 1 cm and I have used Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo, Cajun Craze, Basic Grey and Certainly Celery for them. The sentiment is an old retired SAB set.

Dress Up for Guys

P1010346 (640x462)

Cant leave the boys out can we ? I used the mannequin die from the Dress Up framelits to hang my menswear on! Please dont look too hard at the photo or if you do please ignore the reflection of my T shirt in the acetate window. I was so annoyed when I spotted that as I was adjusting the photos. This card is based on a sketch for the Red Hot Stampers challenge and the colour combo is from the Inkspirational Challenge. The faux stitching pattern around the oval was a bit of lateral thinking. I used the Piercing template for the Apothecary Accents dies to create it using the long shaped one to do top and bottom of oval and then the rectangle with bobble end to join the top and bottom together. Inside is stamped the shoes from Just Married using Midnight Muse ink. My bot thought this card was pretty awesome!!

Seize the birthday boy!

No not like that, put that boy down!! I meant Seize the Birthday challenge this week its the boy theme of last weeks sketch.

Sketch 2 And here is what I did with it! I flipped the orientation for starters and even though both cards are based on the same sketch they have a really different feel.

P1010254 (640x442)

The disappointing thing about this card is that when I photographed it it doesn’t show how the truck “jumps” off the page at you. I stamped and coloured the truck FOUR times then pieced it together using dimensionals so it really does bounce out at you when you see it! This old truck comes from the Countryside stamp set which was new to this Annual catalogue. It went on my wish list straight away but i only recently got it. I used the Designer Series Paper for my colour inspiration Island Indigo, Cajun Craze and Whisper White. This paper is from the exclusive Sale-A-Bration Sycamore Street DSP Pack and the Sentiment is also from a Sale- A-Bration set called Bloomin’ Marvelous. ONLY 4 DAYS to go now so I hope you’ve got your wish lists ready

P1010258 (469x640)

In this photo you can see a little of the layering I did to POP the image. All the trucks were stamped with Versamark Ink then embossed with Early Espresso

Right got to go make a Congratulations card and a girly birthday card so I’m off catch you next time : 0

Two cards one sketch

Im going to try to make this the topic for my Tuesday posts each week but this week its not two but THREE cards one sketch!

Terrible sketch I know but you gt the idea I got the inspiration for this one from a card I had seen in an advert in an old stamping magazine I had. For the first one I used my new fav Clockworks an I think it is my favourite card of these one too. The colourway is Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze and Midnight Muse. To give you idea of size I used 1 1/4″ square and embellished with the mini brads (love those things and they are inexpensive too)

For the next two I used Scentsational Season from the Holiday Catalogue, embellishing with the Silver Dazzling Details glitter glue and Delicate Doilies embellished with Jewels Basic Rhinestones.

Which one is your favourite?

I love this collage look and the colours worked beautifully – Baja Breeze, Basic Grey, Midnight Muse and Very Vanilla.

Here is the sketch I made, its not pretty but its a sketch and also yesterdays card based on the same design

My baby is all growed up (almost)

Today is my Son’s 18th birthday but it seems like only yesterday since we were bringing home from the hospital. My first baby and such an awe inspiring experience, this little human relying solely on me and his father for everything. Yet now he is almost grown and doesnt need us as much but I hope he knows we will always be here for him no matter how old he gets. Ive had lots of time for thinking about times past lately as my grandads partner of 37 years passed away last week and we had her funeral on Friday. It was a sad time  but also a celebration of the lady she was and I know she would have loved having us all together to see her off in style.

All of the great grandchildren put garden flowers on the coffin and mine added a card too (of course) which I will share with you another day because today is about Jordan my almost grown son! Sorry the photos arent up to usual standard but I was using a standby camera which I wasnt quite sure about.

I used my new Clockworks set (p 105 Annual Catalogue) stamped in Midnight Muse, Cajun Craze Summer Starfruit and Crumb Cake with Patterned Papers from the Comfort Cafe DSP pack. The sentiment is from Create A Cupcake. This is a neat wee fold but I tweaked it a little and chose to glue down the front flaps which should  have folded out one more time. Here it is closed with the belly band on and below opened out with the belly band plonked on top.

Right Im off to work on his Birthday tea and help his little sister ice his cake. I also still have a craft entry to finish for tomorrows Ellesmere A & P show.

More Loads of Love

Just a quick post with more Loads of Love , still in the same colour way too but a completely different look.

I did the truck a little bit different this time stamping it on to Old Olive cardstock and piecing it together. I also selectively inked the words to omit one with markers and the Stamp-a-jig. Counting down now folks  only a few days left of the 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalogue and the release of the new 2012-2013 annual Catalogue on Sept 1st. A few days after that Dunkleys Great NZ Craft Show is here in Christchurch. I will be there will you?

Bye bye with Loads of Love

Im soooooo gonna miss this set : ( Loads of Love is on the Retiring List so if you cant live without it time is running out. Here’s a card I was really really really pleased with…. did you get that? Im was really pleased how this card turned out!

Ive used a colour combination of Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive and Basic Grey. Then with the help of my amazing Stamp-a-jig I stamped the coloured trucks in the background before running it through my trusty Big Shot machine with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. A little sponging with Basic Grey around the edges and you have one fabby looking background but wait….. there’s more.

Using my inkpads and Aqua painter I coloured a truck then cut it out and mounted it on the sentiment panel. Ta daaaaa

Spice Cake Fancy Fold Birthdays

Happy Waitangi/ New Zealand Day!

P1000129 (626x800)P1000135 (610x800)

Two of my little friends turned 5 recently and I wanted to do something really special for their cards so I found a Fancy fold I hadn’t tried before. Its called a Gatefold Pop Out Card and they are fun too!

P1000130 (800x759)

This is the inside of the first one. I used the star from Sprinkled Expressions which is an SAB exclusive set it is gold embossed and looks fab. The other sets I used were Bring on the Cake, Fox and friends and a retired Happy Birthday sentiment.

P1000131 (800x405)

This is what the fold looks like from the top see how the star and numbers stand out. The Early Espresso paper is from the Christmas DSP pack.P1000132 (800x773)

This the other colour way I did still using the Spice cake DSP from the summer mini catalogue I used Peach Parfait as the accent colour along with Pool Party.P1000133 (600x800)
