Cards - Birthday, Cards Fancy Folds

Happy Birthday Baby Girl

Its hard to believe my youngest baby turns 9 today! Where has the time gone. It occurred to me at abt 11pm last night I hadn’t made her a card. Its your typical ” mechanic has car the breaks down all the time” or  “builder has lots of fix it jobs undone at home” syndrome. You know card maker doesn’t have the card made. So its 11 pm and I going “Oh, woe is me, whatever shall I do?” and then I remembered a card I had seen recently by Tamsin Adams. What really jumped out at me was it had 9 candles and my girl was 9, Go Figure! These card- in- a- box cards are pretty cool  and I have tried the larger version already which doesn’t fit in our SU A6 envelopes. Now IF it hadn’t been 11 pm at night I MAY have figured out that it didn’t matter if it fitted in an envelope or not because I didn’t need to post it. DUH! Anyway with this in mind I thought I would try the smaller version that Tanya Bell had done a video for which DID fit in the envelope. Here is what I came up with

DSCF4109

The base card is Early Espresso and the papers are from the Fresh Prints Paper Stack, I love the colours and patterns in there. I even used my new stamp set Spiral Spins which I think is going to be a useful wee one.And here it is closed up with a view of the back and one side.

And closed up with a view of the front and one side and the two flap folded down. The candles were punched with Word Window Punch and the flames were trimmed from a petal of the Petite Petals Punch. They were put together on a strip of transparency sheet before being mounted on the card.DSCF4111

The important thing was my girl loved it and because of the design these cards are nice to have on display for a while too. She also though she could keep it for a while because it would be good for her 69th birthday too – see picture above left. Kids, you never know what will come out of their mouths!

Happy 19

Yesterday my boy turned 19 and yet he will always be “MY Boy” Here is the card I made him.

P1020133 (480x640)

I love this paper pack, Season of Style, Its available in the Holiday catalogue. the colours are great and not just for Christmas. This card is a bit different both for me and from the way I envisioned it but I was happy with it in the end.

The stamps I used came from 2 different sets, Clockworks and Bring on the Cake and all those little cogs are stamped and hand cut! Its hard to see the full effect of  the pocket watch but the frame was embossed with Early Espresso Embossing Powder then cut out, the centre punched out and mounted over an acetate layer then over a second stamped watch. I added a tiny brad to the clock hands. I was pleased with how the laced panel came out, I didnt want anything that looked too girly so tried this.  I decorated  inside too

Happy Scrappy Results

Sorry I didn’t get this post up yesterday, life has this horrible way of jumping in front of me when I plan things. But here we are a day late : )

This is what I did with the 5 of the 6 pieces I showed you on Thursday. Somewhere along the line I misplaced one but I have found it now so maybe tomorrow…..

P1020138 (640x485)

Back Row: A little Crazy Patched piece that I embossed using the Square Lattice folder (stamp from Bring on the Cake); A cool wee Patchwork square which I added pen  stitching lines to (Stamp from Best of.. Christmas) ; Lastly another Patchwork inspired pattern (stamp from Petite pairs)

Front: Striped pattern with various sized strips then paper pierced and faux stitched Zig Zag stitching in Early Espresso (Stamp from So Sorry); Bargello inspired strips placed in a chevron (Stamp from Tag It)

My fav I think is the So Sorry Card

Grungy? Vintage? Boy Birthday

Not really sure what style this is but somewhere between grungy and Vintage style with funky colours I think?? Anyway it is the birthday card I made for nephew who is about to turn 10. I was under the wire because my Mum was all but standing over me waiting to pop it in the post for me but I really like the way it came out. Sometimes those are the best cards because you don’t have time to second guess what you are doing, you just make it work!

Big Shot, Cards - Birthday, Cards - General, Two Cards One Sketch

Happy Mothers Day 2 cards one sketch

Happy Mothers Day to all you Mums out there. Both of the cards I want to show you today were class cards based on a card I saw created by Chiaki Haverstick. Here is the sketch I created for them.

22295909b The first one used the Everything Eleanor stamp set and my favourite Framelit set yet, Dress Up and was in a Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake with touches of  Chocolate Chip colourway. The sentiment is from Bring on the Cake. The wee flower and pearl just add an elegant  finishing touch.

P1010475 (495x640) Version Number two I made with our local Boys Brigade company, I used a retired stamp set called Reason to Smile (which I do have an unused wood mount set spare if anyone would like it, $25 plus postage). As I’m sure you know little children, boys in particular are not always the “tidiest” of stampers and make thinks inky which is why I used the retired set : ) The sentiment is of course from Teeny Tiny Sentiments and is suitably stained purple now!

P1010798 (463x640)

And the boys cards looked like this. Sorry the photo is quite terrible, bad lighting combined with night-time and cell phone camera don’t make it pretty but it gives you the idea. There is always one child who manages to stick their front on upside down making a left-handed card!

Birthday Girl inc. Sneak Peek

My wee girl is off to a birthday party today so I made this card for her to take. I finally did some punch art and have did a wee tutorial for this Birthday Girl which I will post tomorrow. The colour way for this card is Wisteria Wonder, Tempting Turquoise and Primrose Petals. I used two stamp sets for this card, Bring On The Cake AND the cupcake form one of the limited release Sale A Bration sets called Patterned Occassions. If you want to get a look at the Sale A Bration flyer Email me! and I can send you a PDF version BEFORE it goes live on Tuesday 22nd

Arent the wee hearts cute? This is one of the embossing folders from Adorning Accents Embossing Folder pack

P1010277 (558x640)

I had to break out the Stamp A Ma Jig to get this sentiment right. First I did the B using markers to colour only the B then I worked out where the cupcake was going to go and then using the markers again I colored in only the “rthday” bit and then placed it using the Stamp A Ma Jig. I used the same process to place the “happy” and then added the cupcake which was also stamped using markers coloured directly on the stamp. I had to cut the Dimensionals into smaller strips to fit behind the candle. i tend to use up the edge strips of the sheet doing things like that. And lastly the ribbon is Primrose Petals Satin Stitched Ribbon

Lion Birthday

One of my wee men turned two last week and this is the card I made him. It is almost a complete CASE of one done by Tara Bourgoin but its so cute. The colour combo is More Mustard, Gumball Green and Soft Suede with Crumb Cake base.

I had 4 birthday cards I needed for last Friday so watch out for some more.

Iceblock weather ??

I dont think so really but this is a cute card anyway.

iceblock birthday (800x600)

This is a bit different for me but that’s what happens when you just sit and play. I had some wee bits of the papers left over from something else and made these border strips with them well before I got as far as making the actual card. then I stamped the Iceblocks from Sunny Fun and coloured them to match the papers. The sentiment is from Bring on the Cake, I punched it out with the wide oval punch and then matted it on the Decorative label. It came together in a fun funky card.

Clean and Simple Smiles

R2S overlap (800x538)

This is a great idea for any of your line image stamps. I just used Basic Black Ink and stamped all over the card front overlapping some of the images. Then picked some complementary Stampin’ Write Markers and coloured in the overlapping sections. Of course I had to add some bling too around the sentiment which although you cant really see it is popped up on Dimensionals. Clean and simple!
