Day 10: Something to Post
Went with something a bit quirky here. I created a “Lazy Letter” to Santa for Dee. You know those ones where you have mulitchoice tick boxes so you dont have to write too much. Santa also sent Dee a letter which I included. Hope she can clean up her act and impress him with her reformed character in these last few days before Christmas Eve!
P.S We are still ignoring that Santa stamp so avert your eyes! Dee was more selective in her products and managed to use all SU supplies and my favourite paper too even if it is retired I still love it. Its just not the same in the new colours : (
In the pocket on one side is envelopes and on the other is a note pad Such a clever idea and very pretty!
Day 11: Something Sparkley – Enter the Smooch Spritz! I love this stuff and its so easy to use.
I was anazed by what Dee sent me Its a snow globe full of sparkles and stamped with one of the new stamp sets that has cute birds and cages in it.Clever you Dee!
Just one day left now. MySURPRISE Day according to our theme..
Ok I’m a bit late for that but I did need to make sure my swap partner had SEEN her present BEFORE I posted it here. I signed up for a swap at Crafters Anonymous called the 12 Days of Christmas. We had to make 12 gifts for our swap partner sticking to the theme for each day.
Day One is Something to Hang
I gave my Swap partner Dee a Mini Star Book tucked into its own box
Here is Dee’s box
Heres the ornaments all folded out and hung on the tree
What to do with them? I get these great wee bags which fold flat but have rectangular bottoms and when I make them up into pretty bags I invariably have to cut them shorter so I have these leftover open bands or strips. I hate waste and I NEVER throw any little scrap away so I had a wee surf round and saw a project I thought might work.
Plenty of room in there for something more than a gift card, just expand the belly band and cover. The stamp set I have used is Winter Post, a lovely set with vintagey kind of images not really in fitting with out NZ Christmas Weather usually but beautiful all the same.
Sorry folks I had the best of intentions getting a post up tonight (its 1.30am as I write) I have to confess “The computer ate my homework Miss” I thought I would be a good girl and do a total close down and install the updates unfortunately it killed the computer completely and I was panicking BIG TIME! thankfully after three hours working at it the MAN was able to work his magic and make it work again. We are kind of making do at the moment as the Earthquake wreaked our laptop and other computer. I finally got as far as placing a claim today so hopefully they will look favourably on us and we might be able to replace the broken space. Everything else just kind of bounced but not the electronics strangely!
Anyway here is the Christmas Card I made for our last Team Swap. My first real go at heat embossing thanks to the lovely Sarah who leant me her heat tool thingee.
It is a 4″ Square card in Baja Breeze. I used Baja Breeze Ink to stamp the snowflake from Winter Post evenly over the whole card front. I did all the embossing using Whisper White Craft ink and White Embossing powder. The Reindeer is also from the Winter Post set; the vine along the top is from Vintage Vogue and Santa’s sleigh? Well its the “U” from the Broad Sheet Alphabet. I bet you don’t recognise the houses! That was a bit sneaky but I used the Neighborhood Wheel. I rolled out a strip on some scrap paper and then cut around the houses, removing them to create a stencil which I used with more Whisper White craft ink and a sponge. I loaded up the sponge with ink and sponged it over the stencil to create the border along the bottom. I stamped all the white bits first and then applied the embossing powder to the whole front at the same time. Craft ink is thicker and takes longer to dry than Classic Dye inks so this worked well.
I added rein details to the deer with our White Gel Pen. The sentiment is stamped using Concord Crush with the Merry Christmas Sentiment from Contempo Christmas on Baja Breeze, Punched out with the Scallop Oval and then the edges were sponged with Whisper White. I mounted it using Dimensionals onto a Concord Crush Wide Oval which was stuck straight on to the card.
I was really pleased with the results which I think were reasonably unique and very pretty. Not the usual Christmas Colours maybe but still effective.
One of the fabulous things in the new Summer mini is the Sweet Treat cup! These are fab little plastic cups that can hold a multitude of different goodies both edible and not so edible. I had a play with mine over the weekend and here are some of my Sweet Ideas.
Cardstock – Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, Whisper White
Stamp Set – Winter post
Accessories – 1 3/4″ circle punch, Sweet treat cup, piece of acetate to back the cup, Dazzling diamonds and a little water.
A hanging ornament which uses all those little strips of leftover patterned papers. I used the flower petal from the coordinating stamp set. Another non edible one but look at it this way at least you wont put on any weight getting them!
If you would like to know how to make either of these Email me! to find out how.
Also Im offering a special deal 1 3/4″ Circle Punch that coordinates with the Sweet Treat Cups AND the Sweet Treat Cups for $42 (save $1.70) add the Something Sweet stamp set for $50 for a total of $92 saving you a further $2.95. Offer valid till December 17th when I put thru the finals order for the year. Be in quick dont miss out!
I had my second Kidstamp Session today with 4 very happy little girls stamping a wee Peek a boo treat holder which held a Spare nose for Rudolf and a checkerboard card. What is that? you may ask. I found a tutorial for it HERE!
Here’s what we made
The other thing we made was a Peek a boo Treat holder which we put in some yummy chocolate “Rudolf Noses” that I got from the Warehouse.
Sets used were Winter Post, Short and Sweet and of course Forest Friends from the Spring Mini
The release date for the Summer Mini Catalogue creeps ever clo. Here’s the only sneak preview of a product your going to get from me. Now anyway.
1 3/4″ Circle Punch! This will be great for those bigger images and framing the smaller ones.
I had a lovely time experimenting with my friend Anne today and one of the things I played with was the Corner Rounder. I know what your thinking… How Exciting but it was! There was a challenge on the NZSU website a couple of weeks ago and I didnt get a chance to do it so today was the day for my first window card. The Corner Rounder was one of the misprints in the current IB&C, they forgot to put it in COMPLETELY! So here is what you need to know to order yours: 3/16″ Corner Rounder 109047 $15.95.
I used my brand new 1 3/4″ Circle Punch to punch out a circle from the front of a matted cardstock A5 card and then did the same thing to a piece of Real Red cardstock punching it about 1″ in from the edge. Here comes the Corner Rounder bit! To make the scallop edge around the circle remove the plastic guide from around your punch.Holding it upside down guide the card in right up to the back of the punch make your first cut. Then I cut around the circle so I could move the punch around it at about the same depth to cut the rest of the scallops. To make the next scallop line the left end of the corner rounder with the right end of the last scallop, punch. Repeat this overlapping cut right around the circle until you can’t fit anymore on your circle. Sometimes they dont quite meet up so just use scissors to snip the card to join them up. Hope this makes sense really its just a matter of playing a bit. If you are just adding a straight scallop edge or scallop edge on a full circle it will be a bit easier.
I have used the skaters image from the Winter Post Set and the gorgeous Ski Slopes paper from the Spring Mini which will be retired at the end of the month so dont miss out. The sentiment comes from Best Yet a Level 1 Hostess Set which is FREE with a qualifying order of $350 or combined Workshop orders. Also if you place an order of $50 or more this month you can go in the draw for a Level 1 Set of your choosing if your name is drawn. This is my Monthly Mystery Hostess Draw, how easy is that!
