sick : ( but been working on……

Hi folks I’ve been sick again with a stinky cold : ) 4 days off work would have been great if it hadn’t been for feeling so awful and icky.

I have been trying to cheer myself up by doing some work to sell at Dunkleys Craft Show in Christchurch Sept 6-8. Here is some of my “work in progress”

Chevron Scrap Border

Happy Labour Day folks. Today is the day we give thanks for the 40 hr working week and a short week this week but dream of a 3 day weekend ever week! I love this paper folding technique as it is GORGEOUS and also uses up those scraps.Yesterday on the card I used 1 X 3 cm strips but on this 6 X 6′” scrapbook page I used 2 X 5 cm strips.

The trick is to fold the ends in opposite directions to the edge to form a triangle then for the next piece you need to fold the ends in the opposite direction to the last piece like this   Just keep adding pieces until your chevron is as long as you want it. Add more rows!

Vintage Gorgeousness

I went all out for this one! I finally got round to using my Alpha rubons only to realise that we dont even sell them anymore LOL.

My favourite paper at the moment is the Attic Boutique one from the Autumn Winter Mini and its colours went so beautifully with the photos. Although they are hard to see in the photo i used a lot of the pearls on the blob ends of the swirls. The Little Leaves die cuts were embossed with the Square Lattice folder. I found it was a good idea to leave them in the negative die cut when i embossed them or the pressure separated some of the leaves from the stem : (  I cut them in both Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla for contrast and then the Swirls Scribbles Sizzlit die with Pool Party. Very yummy

I used the Labels Framelits again this is the biggest size which i cut in half and then embossed using the Vintage wallpaper embossing folder which is sponged with Soft Suede ink. I added some layered and shaped flowers punched from with the many petaled flower in the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, they just added the finishing touch.

On the Tenth and Eleventh Days of Christmas

Day 10: Something to Post

Went with something a bit quirky here. I created a “Lazy Letter” to Santa for Dee. You know those ones where you have  mulitchoice tick boxes so you dont have to write too much. Santa also sent Dee a letter which  I included. Hope she can clean up her act and impress him with her reformed character in these last few days before Christmas Eve!

P.S We are still ignoring that Santa stamp so avert your eyes! Dee was more selective in her products and managed to use all SU supplies and my favourite paper too even if it is retired I still love it. Its just not the same in the new colours : (

In the pocket on one side is envelopes and on the other is a note pad Such a clever idea and very pretty!

Day 11: Something Sparkley – Enter the Smooch Spritz! I love this stuff and its so easy to use.

Although its hard to see this vintage inspiration canvas shimmers and sparkles. I also added some rhinestones for added sparkle.

I was anazed by what Dee sent me Its a snow globe full of sparkles and stamped with one of the new stamp sets that has cute birds and cages in it.Clever you Dee!

Just one day left now. MySURPRISE Day according to our theme..

Artist Trading Cards

Didi I show you this?

When I went to the scrapbooking retreat a couple of weeks  ago there was a wee competition to create our own name tags. I went quite vintage with mine using a retired set called Natural Beauty (but Friends 24/7 would be suitable too) and added some other bits and pieces to come up with this.

I used the 1 3/4 inch circle punch to punch out the bird then cut  a slightly bigger circle using the Circle Scissor. the colours are kraft and Night of Navy with Chocolate chip Ink. I used a wee bit of Bella Bleu paper to stamp the background on and inked the lace with a sponge too. Of course you can see the border along the bottom with the eyelet border punch, so pretty that one! Im working on a wee bit of punch art to share later in the week but have a scrapbook page or tow up my sleeve for tomorrow.

Box Bag Tag

And now for something completely different

Last night I did a mini challenge with  my Swap Sisters – a Vintage Style Shipping Tag! It had to use 4 techniques, have 2 3D embellishments, ribbon or lace and words or a sentiment. I used a retired set from SU which has a lovely vintagy feel similar to Friends 24/7 in the current IBC. My techniques were sponging, punching, embossing and dazzling diamonds. I added the brad and popped up the bird and word Hope on Dimensionals (gotta love those things) and off course the fibres. To give you an idea of the size I made my tag 3″x6″. The cardstock colours are Kraft, Very Vanilla and Kiwi Kiss. And here is the finished result….

Box Bag Tag, Challenges, Paper Flowers

Ta da!

As I said yesterday I was keen to try this altered project challenge from Swap Sisters. Here  is what I made

How gorgeous is this!

I intend to add month cards and finish it as a card file for birthdays just like a bulky birthday book! there is probably a special name for it but I can think of it! I have used Bella Blue DSP; Very Vanilla and Not Quite Navy cardstock; Sincere Salutations stamp set; kraft taffeta ribbon and the scallop edge punch. Opps forgot the Chocolate Chip ink to ink the flowers and stamp the sentiment. Cant wait to get it all finished but so much to do this week as Ashburton extravaganza coming up on Saturday!
