Gift, Paper Flowers, Punch Art

Its looking like a paper flower week

At the Quilt and Craft Show in Christchurch last week I made Sooooooooo many of these cute wee paper roses. Here is a tag I made with them

Concord Crush yet again! You can find the instructions on how to make these wee roses here with Andrea Buckland The bigger of my roses is made using a 1″ Circle in the centre of  our Scallop Circle Punch, the smaller ones use the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch at the centre instead. I use my trusty tweezers to roll them up and tease the petals out. The leaves are from the 2 Step bird Punch and have also been tweaked with the tweezers.

My tricks with the flowers are to wind them up tight and then loosen off the coil to give them some body and to use a technical term here “retwiddle” the middles after gluing in place but before they are set. I did prefer the glue dots for attaching the flowers but also used my ever useful Tombo Mono Multi Glue to attach them too.

The Thanks sentiment comes from the Level 1 hostess set Afterthoughts but I removed the little extra words from the bottom leaving just the big word “Thanks”

Up, Up and Awaaay in my Beautiful Balloooon

Do you remember that song. Cool thats means your old like me!

Ever since I saw this stamp in the US Stampin’ Up! catalogue I wanted it. this littel balloon basket is included in the “A Little Treat” Set in the Winter Mini catalogue as is the flower petal stamp Ive used to make the “balloon”. I got it in the new Clear Mount version so $20.95 for 3 stamps.

I just love the new clear mount option, for starters its not as obvious to The Man of the House that I have yet more new stamps as they store much more compactly. Peel them off the case, pop them on an acrylic block, press fimly and stamp away, clean, peel off to store back in the case. Its as easy as that.

This is a new version of the side step card that I havent made before. The very talented Sheri taught this one at one of the Swap Sisters online classes which I unfortunately missed while I was away relaxing for the weekend. Thank goodness for PDF’s. I knew I wanted to use the balloon stamp but boy did I have to think hard about how to incorporate it. I finally got to try the sponged cloud effect too. See what you think

Did you spot the Buttons #5 Die, the Top Note die, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder  details and Bee Happy from the newly released Picture This Level 1 hostess set. I stamped each of the petals singly, cut out and attatched around the Scallop Circle punchie.

As  you will have gathered from yesterdays post  Taken with Teal is one of the colour retiring. This one I will miss and I will be stocking up before it goes.

Poop can make you happy!

Well of course it can if its made of MARSHMALLOW. This is a cute idea I have seen around a lot. I have used a wee poem I found on the net and the same template we used at the Kidstamp class last weekend to make the Peek  Boo Treat holder.

To you From Me

That is a such a great sentiment that you can use for so many occassions. You can find it in the Best Yet Level 1 hostess set Contact me! to find out how to book your in home workshop and earn this set for FREE!

I have just learnt how to make the Bag in a Box. It is so cool!! and very easy once you figure out how.Make them as plain or fancy as you like.

  • 1. Cut a base of 4 1/2″ square score at 1″ in from every edge and crease
  • 2. At each corner make a snip along one of the sides of the small square formed by the scoring, only as far as the scored inner square to form a flap at each corner for gluing the base together. And then glue  in place to form tray base
  • 3. Cut a piece 5 1/2″ X 11” of patterned paper to fit around the base.  Add tape around the outside each of the base or the inside lower edge of the patterned paper
  • 4. Add a strip of tape up the inside of one of the 5 1/2″ sides
  • 5.     Remove tape from lower edge and adhere patterned paper to tray base midway across the back starting with the edge WITHOUT the tape on. Remove the side edge tape when you have it wrapped round and stick together.
  • 6.   Cut a strip long enough to go around the base of the tray   part. Cut one edge with a border punch if desired and adhere in place
  • 7.    Punch out 2 Round tabs, scallop circles or any other similar punch that can be folded in half symetrically add tape and stick in place on Centre front and back of bag. Punch a hole with Horizontal slit or normal hole punch to thread ribbon through to close after you have filled the bag.

I usually stay well away from ORANGE but I was feeling brave and I wanted to use this lovely paper from the Washington Apple Pack. I made a matching card using nearly all DSP which is again something out of the ordinary for me. I do love double sided paper, it makes life so much easier. The red double stitched look paper is the other side of the floral. I stamped and cut out the butterfly from Great Friend which has been a wonderful set I will be sad to see it be retired on November 30th. Order yours now! while there is still time I will be placing the last qualifying order on November 29th so dont miss out.

Right I better get off to work now. Ka Kite

Cards - General, Punch Art, Scrapbooking

Here it is!!

Focus on Friday for today is the Scallop Circle punch. Personally I love this punch I drooled over it for months before I couldnt fight the urge to buy it anymore and it has been a brilliant buy. i find myself reaching for it frequently. It punchs so cleanly and the lever action is easy on the hands. Here are a few ideas to inspire you….

I love the look of those fancy paper flowers and heres a budget tip for making your own.

Punch as many scallop circles as you want layers to your flower. Then take out all your frustrations on the paper, screw it up, rub it, scrunch it flattening out between scrunchs to see how the paper is softening. Add tape between the layers but only around the centre of each. Snip between each scallop in towards the centre leaving about a 1 cm circle centre uncut. To finish punch hole (or holes) for a brad or to sew on a button. Stick in situ and fluff up the petals a little.

Heres another example of the flower. The dragonfly is also made by using the scallop Circle punch. This card also uses the Curvy Verses Set.

you can of course use the punch to back stamped image Circles as I did in Tuesdays cards.
I have also used it as a tag for scrapbooking just punch a small hole or two for ribbon twine etc to go through.

ANother thing you can use it for is to make Punch Art.

And finally here is a Layout using the Scallop Circle.

i used a retired SU Wheel to do the background and the slit punch to make the scalloped edge. With the Scallop Circle Punch I created an icecream a Sun peeking from behind the title and a tag for the date.

Now if you made it through all that without falling asleep either I made it interesting or your an insomniac! Hopefully your inspired and/or you really want to get your hands on one of those punches. Drop me a line if you would like to order one or find out more.
Thanks for reading. Ka Kite
