Happy Mothers Day 2 cards one sketch

Happy Mothers Day to all you Mums out there. Both of the cards I want to show you today were class cards based on a card I saw created by Chiaki Haverstick. Here is the sketch I created for them.

22295909b The first one used the Everything Eleanor stamp set and my favourite Framelit set yet, Dress Up and was in a Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake with touches of  Chocolate Chip colourway. The sentiment is from Bring on the Cake. The wee flower and pearl just add an elegant  finishing touch.

P1010475 (495x640) Version Number two I made with our local Boys Brigade company, I used a retired stamp set called Reason to Smile (which I do have an unused wood mount set spare if anyone would like it, $25 plus postage). As I’m sure you know little children, boys in particular are not always the “tidiest” of stampers and make thinks inky which is why I used the retired set : ) The sentiment is of course from Teeny Tiny Sentiments and is suitably stained purple now!

P1010798 (463x640)

And the boys cards looked like this. Sorry the photo is quite terrible, bad lighting combined with night-time and cell phone camera don’t make it pretty but it gives you the idea. There is always one child who manages to stick their front on upside down making a left-handed card!

Shadow Smiles

R2S shadow (586x800)

For this card I used only the shadow parts of Reason To Smile rather than stamping the line images over the top. I also added the splotchy image from French Foliage stamp set. The colours I used were Cherry Cobbler, Peach Parfait, Island Indigo and Pool Party for the flowers and Crumb cake for the Splotches. I cut the patterned card BEFORE I embossed it with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder otherwise you risk it tearing when you go to cut it. This was then matted on Crumb cake, Lace and Bakers Twine added  and then finally mounted onto the Cherry Cobbler card front.

R2S shadow close up (800x600)

Close up you can see the detail a little better Best Wishes comes from the Petite Pairs Stamp Set. I left the sentiment un-embossed to make it stand out a bit more.

Clean and Simple Smiles

R2S overlap (800x538)

This is a great idea for any of your line image stamps. I just used Basic Black Ink and stamped all over the card front overlapping some of the images. Then picked some complementary Stampin’ Write Markers and coloured in the overlapping sections. Of course I had to add some bling too around the sentiment which although you cant really see it is popped up on Dimensionals. Clean and simple!

Sunflower Smiles

Im back to Reason to Smile again! Just couldnt leave it alone. I had a couple of go’s at this as i wasnt entirely happy with the outcome the first time so I dismantled bits of it and added the White Mat.

R2S autumn (590x800)

I do love the Sunflowers though They kind of like like those “Teddybear” ones in colour. Would you believe there are  SEVEN  colours in them So Saffron, Cajun Craze, Peach Parfait, Early Espresso, Soft Suede and Pumpkin Pie!

R2S autumn close up (800x588)

The sentiment is from Bring on the Cake and the Papers from Attic Boutique. If you cant live without this stamp set I am putting an order through in the next couple of days so check out the link to  info in the right hand column.

Smile Birdies

R2S birds (588x800)

As I was lying in my sick bed last week i flicked through so cardmaking magazines to keep me amused and when i saw this idea for birds made with Circles and flower petal wings i leapt from my bed and charged out to have a go using Reason to Smile. Ok to be completely I honest I draaaaaggged myself out of bed and propped myself up on stamp pads and cardstock at the table then took a good sniff of stamp cleaner to keep  rouse myself long enough to have a go at this.

Funky huh! I used papers from the Domestic Goddess DSP Pack plus some Poppy Parade circles (1 1/2” non SU) The inner circles are 1 3/8” then i drew on the eyes and legs. The words are from Fabulous Phrases which covers so many occasions and  is great for scrapbooking words too.

Bouquet of Birthday Smiles

Chris card (800x607)

Dont know what this fold is called but its been on my “To Do” list for ages. I made this one for a dear friends birthday so hope she likes it : ) This is it standing up so you can see the front well. Not a great photo sorry especially the Shimmer Paint shine on the half daisies which I stamped, cut out and popped up. The bling is shining back a  bit too but at least you can see where it is. Now down flat so you can see the inside as well. It gives you a much better idea of the fold.

chris card flat (800x616)

And now the insert which sits in the front pocket, very clever huh! As you can tell I used THAT set again Reason to Smile and by now you should know how to get your hands on your own set too.

Get Well Smiles

carolyns card (580x800) Ok couldn’t resist I love this wee flower and I’m growing to love the bigger daisies too. A really simple concept for this card but the wee touches really add to it. I used my Framelits Labels collection to make the two shaped mats and pulled out some retired ribbon and buttons to tie up the daisies. carolyns card close up (800x600)

I stamped the solid flowers with Wisteria Wonder with the line image is over stamped in Basic Black. The accents are in Lucky Limeade.

Simple Tiled Reason to Smile

tiled R2S (800x556)

Quick and easy today, still not well but slowly improving. I used this months’ exclusive set Reason to Smile. Remember you can get this set for free when you order $150 of fabbo Stampin’ Up! product. Just want the stamp set? No problem Wood mount #130826 is $43.95 and Clearmount #130828 $34.95.

Bit of a different colour way Cherry Cobbler/ Poppy Parade; Pool Party/ Island Indigo on Crumb Cake but i think it works. I love this 2 step stamped wee flower, just so cute. I went with a kind of delft tile technique but i think I will practice this a bit more maybe. Got a couple of more detailed cards using this set that I will share over the next couple of days
