So I guess you want to know where I’ve been…..

I’ve been exploring people! And I’ve been to some wild places considering I never left home. I have been having some fun with different medias and formats. Lately Ive popped back into Scrapbooking, if I ever really left it at all.

Here’s a wee a sampling of my creations. Mixed Media Altered Book Pages, Collage, Drawing and Water colouring, Travellers Notebook listing and memory keeping pages.

Work of He{ART}

This is the Canvas I created for my entry at the local A&P Show recently. It received not only a First but a special prize too : ) The canvas had to be minimum 8X8″ and have a 5X7 photo on it. Well the only canvas I had left in the cupboard (after Miss 15 nicked off with the rest to paint on) was a huge 18X18″ one so that was it. Then it was down to the thinking stage. What was I going to do to fill up such a huge space!

 Its hard to appreciate the detail in this project. Each piece of the houses are hand drawn and cut then outlined and sponged. I started by Sketching out all of the houses straight onto the canvas then tracing each piece off and onto the various patterned papers.

I painted in the foreground and sprinkled it with Dazzling Diamonds, working it in a little in sections while the paint was still wet. The frame was finished with  a fabric trim and buttons on all four corners. To create the tree and grasses I snipped a fringe into small pieces of card then folded up the unsnipped section and glued in place behind the fanned out fringe. The flowers a punched using the Itty Bitty Punch Pack and then given some dimension with tweezers. I made wee “bricked” planter boxes for the peach tree and grasses.

Dont you love the wee froggy button in the corner. I enjoyed putting interesting wee touches for people to discover as they looked at the canvas. Spread over the canvas are 4 black cats, we do have 4 but they arent all black!

 I sponged in the sky and then painted in some clouds which were again sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds. The basket of the balloon was created with a dimensional paint which I also used for some of the house and fence detail too. All of the tree pieces were embossed using the new Woodgrain embossing folder.

 The most important part of course is the photo which takes pride of place in the middle. I used part of a quote, stamped and embossed with White on Early Espresso COREdinations cardstock to frame the photo. The rest of the quote 3rd photo. The alphabets are Broadsheet Alphabet and the retired Rough Type one. Now I just have to get it hung up in my room so I can see my families smiling faces every morning when I wake up.
