Birthday toot with Thomas cards

Thomas the tank Engine is always a favorite with little boys and two of my wee friends are no different!  I paper pieced and punched two of the same little Thomas’ and then added them to different fancy fold cards.

The first one is an easel style card and sits up against the tracks to hold the easel in place. I didn’t have a stone type image for the gravel under the tracks so I used the rubber on the end of a  pencil. Worked pretty well huh! I hand cut the grass border too.

Number two was a side double step card with Thomas on the front step and the train house  on the back one. Thought it looked a bit bare on the side so I added the stop go lights and then a strip of Attic Boutique paper across the base. Both cards use the Birthday sentiment from Petite Pairs which is a great set as it covers lots of occasions AND has a matching sentiment for inside the card. Check it out on page 105 of the Idea Book and Catalogue.

Sending Hugs in a Envelope

DSCF3315 (640x462)

I made this card quite a while ago and sent it off to a lovely lady who I thought might like a little cheering up. It is one of my favourites from 2011.

I know it gave her a little smile to receive this in the mail so why not make someone’s day by sending someone you know a Hug in an Envelope!

Flowerpots and Fun Days

Just a quick reminder about tomorrows Fun Day. BYO stamps and projects, a plate for lunch and $5 for hall hire. Try out my Big Shot and I will do a couple of demonstrations during the day too.

I have been making a special order up this week. The lovely Nicky wanted some flowerpot cards. Take a look

Dont you love the flowers in Concord Crush and Wisteria Wonder! I used some vellum paper to layer over the Butterflies to add a special touch. To punch this paper I put a sheet of computer paper with it otherwise the vellum jammed and ripped : (

The stamp set I’ve used is Cottage Garden. Here is the tag which slides inside the pot.

Happy Birthday to my Sister

My little sister is 10 years younger than me but we have always gotten along well. Im lucky she lives close by and we can catch up whenever the mood takes us. Yesterday was her birthday so of course I made her a card and it couldnt be just any card…

A waterfall of butterflies is what I came up with using my new Exclusive Hostess Set Precious Butterflies.

What a great day!!

Yesterday we had a Stampin’ Up! Regional Training Day in Christchurch and it was Great! Actually it was beyond great. It was lovely to catch up with and meet so many of my fellow team members and other local demonstrators. And along with the usual great WOW! demonstrations and make’n’takes there were some surprises too. Its great belonging to the Stampin’ Up! family as there are so many lovely ladies (and men) involved. A big thank to Emma and her helpers  who made us a flower folds brooch each and to Helen McEwen from Inglewood and her team of helpers who made everyone a special surprise too. It’s funny that the first things to sell out at our local supermarket after the earthquakes were milk and …um… chocolate. But everyone including  Helen knows that  a Stampers best friend is CHOCOLATE . Thanks ladies for these special touches to out day!

Anyway there was a name tag competition and guess who won it…..ME! I was so happy because I get to choose a free stamp set as my prize. I used a brand new product called Bevelled Windowpanes so look out for them in the new Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue due for release April 1st and my favourite Broadsheet alphabet. The Chantilly Lace is in the Summer Mini catalogue which means it is only available until March 31st!!

Here is my swap card. Its a little bit different as it is a gatefold but the picture has been punched so each alternate piece  opens a differnet way to separate the picture. Easier to show you with a picture. No doubt there is a fancy name for it but I dont know. Thanks Christine who showed me a card that inspired my one. The tassels on my key are made by unraveling some of the in colour ribbon

Thanks for your advice on yesterdays card ladies I will wait till next Friday to draw a name from the comments to get a little piece of “happy mail”.

Rudolf meets Owl Box Frame Card

This was a clever design I saw recently in a magazine and I said to my friend Christine that we have to make a challenge of this one. Well Christine has been a busy bunny recently and hasn’t had time to rise to the challenge yet BUT I managed to put together this card for her for Christmas. It was really fun and I think I can see lots of possibilities for this design. It folds down flat to go in an envelope for posting which is great too.

I saw a similar card on Valita Reynolds blog and was inspired to create it using a this fold instead of her Tent fold card. Now if I had been really clever I could have  scrolled down the post a bit more and found Valita’s instructions but No the computer chose that moment to die yet again so I had to do it from memory.

and a view from above gives you a better idea about how this card is put together.

I am really pleased I got the Crumb Cake ink pad its a lovely subtle colour I also used the  Square Lattice Textured Impressions folder on the white background mat. Just very lightly though as I couldn’t find my multipurpose platform AND I was on a really tight time limit so didn’t have time to find it. I think I will really grow to like this folder as it gives two such different impressions depending on which side is facing up. I wasnt sure about it to start with but it will be great for masculine cards and all manner of other occasions.

I hope you have all been good this year because as we know the jolly fellow in red comes tonight. Im planning a lovely meal for my family tomorrow night and im looking forward to spending the day withthe extended whanau. And just in case he is checking my blog … Hey Santa I really HAVE been a good girl this year dont believe anyone who says otherwise!

TGIF well it was anyway!

Just read this status on a friends Facebook page

Today is brought to you by the letters T G I and F as well as the number 5 as in its 5 o’clock some where…Have a great day.

That is so me at the moment, life is very busy which is why I havent posted for a few days. I’m going to schedule a few today so you will have something new to look at : )

Here is a card we made at a recent class using Every Moment.

It’s a waterfall card I did a Christmas one using Contempo Christmas too and taught the ladies at Crafters Anonymous how to make one in an online class last Tuesday night. Great fun it was too. The best thing is seeing all the variations people come up with on my design.

Big Shot, Box Bag Tag, Christmas, Gift

Old olive Xmas combo’s

Almost the last of my Team swaps, Julia Leece created this mini Tri fold shutter card. Its amazing how much she packed into this tiny perfect creation.

EnFrancais Background Stamp, Vintage vogue swirling leaves, the wreath from Welcome Christmas, Some Sizzlit Lots of Tags Dies cuts with some sponging and ribbon. Just gorgeous! Thank you Julia. These cards are always a challenge as they need to be very accurately  measured and cut to give the best results but they are so much fun. The colours are the new Christmas duo Old Olive &  Cherry Cobbler with  Crumb Cake.

This wee gem, created  by Jackie Noble, came with an added bonus…. CHOCOLATE! Just what I needed. Jackie has used the Sizzix Mini milk carton die with Old Olive Cardstock and made a clever adjustment to the middle using the Scallop border Punch then added a strip of Window Sheet to reconnect both bits. All of the cardstock has been stamped and embossed using the Sassy Sparkles Wheel. The sentiments are from Tiny Tags and held in place using a clear rhinestone brad. The top was closed up with a Whisper White ribbon but that was misplaced  right after I accessed the chocolates. Opps… you get the gist though.

There is one more I have shown you yet but that’s because I want to CASE it. It’s so different and really inventive use of the die. Watch out for it next week.
