Baby Bear Birthday

A dear wee friend of mine turned 1 recently and she absolutely needed a gorgeous birthday card from me! Of course it had to be Baby Bear and I used an Easel Fold to make it just that bit fancier and something that could sit on her drawers long after her birthday if she wanted it to.

I used Early Espresso, Blushing Bride and Very Vanilla Cardstock, some retired paper daisies and lace plus some more of the Playful Palette DSP stack. The paper and the ink I used for the lace stamp are both the new In Colour Sweet Sugarplum. The stamp sets were Baby Bear, of course, with Grateful Bunch and Timeless Textures which both made it in to the new Annual Catalogue. Yippee because I love both those sets for their versatility. Bear was stamped in Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Early Espresso.

Here is a closer look at Bear. I didn’t think to get a photo of the inside where I put the birthday sentiment…duh!

Easel Card not Evil Card!

Today I had a visit from a couple of lovely ladies who wanted to learn all about  the Big Shot and what you could do with it. One of the cards I showed them was an EASEL card but one of the ladies misheard me and thought I was going to teach them an EVIL card. Although it was a bit different I dont think its is evil. Let me know what you think.

I got quite a few techniques and Big Shot products into this one: Square Lattice Embossing Folder for doing inlaid embossing, Scallop Circle die,  Buttons Embosslits and the Stripes Embossing Folder to do inked folder gingham pattern.

Sorry the photos are a bit rubbish but it got dark before I thought to take them. Duh!  The image is from one of the hostess sets. Below is the easel “stopper piece”

It was the courier with my Stampin’ Up! order including the special stamp set available this month only, Reason To Smile! Tess. Sh-easel that!

This is going to be my elder daughters birthday card but was also my entry in the Greeting card section at the show. It’s an Easel Card which I created using the  Scallop Circle die and the Circle Scissor. I folded the cardstock in half before putting it through the Big Shot with the die. To create the “hinge” the fold is positioned inside of the dies cutting line so it isn’t cut. Hope that makes sense!

I friend had sent me a wee scrap of gorgeous specialty paper which was available in the US last year and I couldn’t  think of a better use for it than on My soon to be 14 year olds card. The colours look great together too;  Pink Pirouette, Baja Breeze and Concord Crush. I bet you my girl will want bags of goodies just like Tess has too!

Somewhere you’ll find it, the Rainbow Connection…

Im finding songs very useful inspiration at the moment as you may have noticed.

Last week I learnt this new design using a quilting kind of pattern to create cards. To me it just screamed RAINBOW! so here is what I did

Dont you love the cute wee bee in the centre its from the new Level 1 Hostess set Picture This! I used our White gel pen to do the stitching line to add the illusion of quilting.

Well one is never enough so I tried this design again using DSP, my new friends Mr BIGSHOT and Ms TOPNOTE die.

The other thing I cant have just one of is the Easel Card. It is such an easy design but oh so flash looking! I had to use my Button Die again too. Love love love that Big Shot and all the tools that go with it. Did you recognise the beautiful colours of the Bella Rose DSP,  its so pretty and elegant.

JAI9 X countdown continues

I noticed that the Just Add Ink challenge was a sketch one this week and well I quite like them. I also really wanted to try an easel card so I combined the two. That has been on “The List” for a long time to do and today was they day. Take a look….

And because its Countdown week I used Kaliedoscope DSP and Happy Moments SAB set as base products. Now bear in mind this was my first Easel Card so when you look at the side view you can pretend NOT to notice the extra score line. Opps

These are actually a lot easier cards to make than I thought basically you need to use a top fold card and cut a second piece the same size as the card front. Score the front of the base piece across half way point.

Also used on this card were So Safrron brads, Only Orange, Rose Red, Apricot Appeal, Whisper White and Certainly Celery cardstock. Eyelet border punch, lots of Circle punches, Boho Blossoms punch. Markers to match and Choclate Chip Ink.

Check out day 3 of Countdown tomorrow!
