Beary Fancy Birthday Card

Lucky me, this card earned me both another First Place and Special Prize! I haven’t tried this fold before but it has been on my To Do list for a while and was actually pretty easy. The teddy was on that list too and turned out very cute each piece is hand cut and sponged as are the balloons and pennants.

The parcels are just strips of paper folded to add dimension, edges sponged and  then tied with Bakers twine. The green starry paper is from the Snow Festival DSP pack in the Holiday catalogue and the stripe is from Comfort Cafe in the Annual catalogue as is the Cajun Craze one. Here is what the card fold looks like from the side

Dont forget about the October promotion where you can get FREE ribbon when you make a $70 purchase. the other great thing is that there is NO LIMIT on how many rolls you can earn! Also MARK your diary for the next Papercrafters Day here in Leeston on October 28th, dont forget to let me know if your coming. We are focusing on Christmas this month and I will be demonstrating how to make a Christmas Ornament similar to the one on the cover of the Holiday Catalogue!

Scrapbooking

Scrapbook Gorgeousness

Last weekend was the Annual Ellesmere A&P Show and I entered some scrapbook pages among other things. Im really pleased to see so many more entries in the scrapbooking section as it is still a fairly new one. My wee girl entered her own page again this year too and competition is getting really stiff among the younger ones too. So here are our pages for you to see.

This is my 7 year olds page, I have a large stash of scrapbook papers from Pre Stampin’ Up! so she had lots of choices to make. My clever girl was very happy with her prize “ticket” a VHC especially as both her older siblings got prize Tickets too. First prizes at that, Jordan for a mixed Media art work and Zoe for a dress she made.

This was my single page layout. I used a retired stamp set with the wee houses and trees plus lots of the lovely new papers. Banners are very trendy at the moment and worked well for this layout. The wee clouds are the topping  from the Cupcake Builder Punch which I embossed and then sponged.

Here is my double page spread. Its a lot “cleaner” than my single but no less effective.

The lattice patterned paper is from the Comfort Cafe DSP pack and I used it to echo the lattice back of the seat. i picked the colours from Ali’s top but didnt quite get the pink right.

Out came my new Clockworks stamp set again to add elements to the page especially around the title. And take a look at the stitching detail. The Paper Piercing Tool and mat pack came in really handy for that!

My baby is all growed up (almost)

Today is my Son’s 18th birthday but it seems like only yesterday since we were bringing home from the hospital. My first baby and such an awe inspiring experience, this little human relying solely on me and his father for everything. Yet now he is almost grown and doesnt need us as much but I hope he knows we will always be here for him no matter how old he gets. Ive had lots of time for thinking about times past lately as my grandads partner of 37 years passed away last week and we had her funeral on Friday. It was a sad time  but also a celebration of the lady she was and I know she would have loved having us all together to see her off in style.

All of the great grandchildren put garden flowers on the coffin and mine added a card too (of course) which I will share with you another day because today is about Jordan my almost grown son! Sorry the photos arent up to usual standard but I was using a standby camera which I wasnt quite sure about.

I used my new Clockworks set (p 105 Annual Catalogue) stamped in Midnight Muse, Cajun Craze Summer Starfruit and Crumb Cake with Patterned Papers from the Comfort Cafe DSP pack. The sentiment is from Create A Cupcake. This is a neat wee fold but I tweaked it a little and chose to glue down the front flaps which should  have folded out one more time. Here it is closed with the belly band on and below opened out with the belly band plonked on top.

Right Im off to work on his Birthday tea and help his little sister ice his cake. I also still have a craft entry to finish for tomorrows Ellesmere A & P show.

Girly Girl card

This Birthday card was made for a pretty wee 2 yr old who would look so sweet in a dress just like this. I have made this sort of card in a small ATC (Artist Trading Card) size but not in a full size card before.

The paper I used is from the Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper Pack. So versatile!

Fast and Furious Fabulousness

It was also my Mum’s birthday last week so I got to make a grown up card and because it was my Mum it had to be something quite fabulous so I tried a new fancy fold! This one is called the Twisted greeting card and I learnt it from a video by Kelly Gettlefinger. You can watch her Youtube video here. I will definitely have to have a go at more of these ones. Did I mention I had less than an hour to create this hence the Fast and furious in the post title : )

I wanted to use some of my new stash too so the DSP is from Comfort Cafe in the Annual catalogue, the Midnight Muse die cut is from the Apothecary Accents Framelits die set and I used the Scalloped tulle ribbon from the Holiday Catalogue too. Here is the inside
