Eleanor with funny scrappy strip background

Hi folks Im back with heaps of new ideas and gorgeous cards. For the next few days I am concentrating on an older stamp set called Everything Eleanor which is available in Wood and Clearmount

I had all these strips of coloured card sitting on my table and I hate to waste them so I glued them all onto a piece of scrap paper butting them up tight to each other. Then I cut the whole piece into various sized strips then offset them to create this background. It could be called Bargello??? Im sure one of you clever people will be able to tell me! : )

Next comes the Everything Eleanor stamp set. I stamped the biggest flower and 2 of the medium flower then stamped two of the leafy branch from the Crazy About You stamp set. A leafy branch is the one thing that is missing from this set but it does have a gorgeous flourish! Lastly I added some pearls, Dimensionals under the big flower and the wee bird stamp. The sentiment is from the new Build a Birthday stamp set

Build a Birthday Flowerpot

One more day before the cake but today its a flower-pot! I do love to get the most out of a stamp set that I can and when I flipped this stamp upside down I also happened to be scanning through the buy –  sell pages on Facebook and saw some planters. **Lightbulb moment** I can do that! especially using the wee flowers from Sprinkles of Life and pairing them with the Happy Blooming Birthday sentiment from Flower Patch.

I also managed to use my new Boho Chic Embossing Folder and some paper from the Cherry on Top 6X6 DSP Stack

Build A Birthday Brick Wall

This one doesnt in the least resemble a birthday cake but it is also made using Build A Birthday. I used a few shades of yellow and brown; Delightful Dijon, Hello Honey, So Saffron, Tip Top Taupe and Soft Suede. The card base is Delightful Dijon and the stars So Saffron. This candle stamp reminded me of breeze block or bricks so I stamped it like that.

I used my star framelits to add some interest and a peek-a-boo window through to the inside of the card. And of course stars scream for some blink! I added some gold sequins and with the leftover “string” from my sequin roll I added the knot on the star. Waste not, want not.

Build A Birthday Fancy Hat

Me again. Here is another Build A Birthday card and definitely not a cake!

P1040892 I tried a File Folder card in Watermelon Wonder, the front is covered using some of the new In Colour Envelope Paper. This is a much lighter weight than our DSP and obviously suited for making envelopes but also works for layering on cards. This is in the Tip Top Taupe colour as is the Dotted Lace.

TIP: I trimmed off the top edge of the lace, coiled it to add a wee touch behind the flower  and gathered the rest onto the bottom of the image panel.

The great thing about Photopolymer stamps is you can reshape them into curves and I did this a little with the cake stand stamp I used for the hat. You can tell its a hat can’t you???

TIP 2: To add the striped ribbon on the hat I lightly stamped the cake stand on the back of a piece of white card, cut around the lower edge of the foot piece to get the scallop then on the blank side stamp the stripe candle piece and trim to length before gluing on the “hat”.

The flower was made by “faux suedeing” 2 X 7/8″ scallop circles and layering them. Cute huh! The sentiment of course from my fav sentiment set ever Crazy About You!

Build a Birthday variation 1

Hi folks I have some cards to share with you over the next few days and the first set I am showcasing is Build A Birthday. Funny how I have only managed to make ONE birthday cake card with it but many other designs.

The first one I have for you is kind of like book spines or washi stripes. I used a ripped piece of post it note to mask the top end of each “cake layer”. I used 3 of the new In Colours Delightful Dijon, Cucumber Crush and Mint Macaron with a little touch of Early Espresso.

P1040884 I have to say I am loving my Hello You Thinlits and Im saving up for the smaller Greetings Thinlits.
