Swap Sisters ATC Challenge

How gorgeous is this ATC! I used Boho Backgrounds for background with Soft Suede ink on Soft Suede Cardstock. Then the Baroque Motifs emblem in Chocolate Chip . The flowers are from the Pretties Kit, I sponged the  flowers in Creamy Caramel and then splodged with Chocolate Chip with a touch of Kiwi Kiss in the middle. I threaded Kiwi Kiss double sided satin ribbon n to the hatpin as leaves and attached to the card with Glue Dots. Using my favourite SU White Gel pen I highlighted the  flower centres of background. The sentiment is stamped in Whisper White craft ink and a stamp from the Level 1 Hostess set Best Yet.

Does ANYONE like Tess?

I have heard one or two negaitve comments about my Tess lately. Apparently not everyone likes her. I am of course talking about the newly released set Toteally Tess in the Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue.

I used her on this adaption of yesterdays card

Tess is wearing a Pink Pirouette jacket with this seasons Bella Blue paisley print trousers. Dont you love the special touch the new dotty embossing folder adds too.

NOTE: When using Craft inks remember they dont dry as fast as Classic dye inks so let them dry thoroughly before folding or layering cards.

We used Tess today in my Kidstamp Class too 5 young ladies had fun making the Tess tote bag and  2 note cards.

Im really loving that Melon Mambo colour and arent those little punch art purses cute. Both my Tess set and my Fox and Friends sets are in the new clear mount style which I am really enjoying. The stamp blocks are really easy to hold and use, far superior to any of the other I have. Must get some more…..

Just slippin’ in a challenge or two

Surprise 2 posts in one day! I thought it was about time I got back into some challenges so Ive gone the whole hog and done 2 at once!

Corrosive Challenge Challenge 48 is a fancy folds card hence this Triangle Trifold and a brand new Challenge blog with a difference Just Add Ink. This is just there 2nd challenge and is to “Just add hearts” hence the heart from Something Sweet in the Summer Mini Catalogue. So here is my entry

Done with Kraft, Real Red, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla. Sentiment is from Hostess set Best Yet

Oh and the swirl is from Spotlight on Christmas. Talk about mixing your “Seasons” Christmas on a Valentine Card!

Are you a Christmas Traditionalist?

I have to admit I usuallly am! I love the gorgeous lighted  tree, all the presents wrapped and carols playing. My man on the other hand….Hmm Well the nicest thing he can say about Christmas is Bahh Humbug! Although he is prticularly partial to my Christmas Fruit cake which is a lovely old fashioned dark heavy cake with as much  fruit in it as I can shove in.

I did a demonstration for a local womens group last Thursday and  showed them a Z card done in traditional colours of Green, Red and  White. Earlier I had made up a slightly more advanced version in alternative colours namely Blue and Purple with some added touches to snazz it up a little.

The traditional one is done in Riding Hood Red, Handsome Hunter and Whisper White. The ornaments are stamped in Certainly Celery and Ruby Red using the Tree Trimmings Set and you know it! its only available for another 9 days so dont miss out. This also applies to the wonderful Scallop Oval Punch. It is so useful Im really glad I got one. The sentiment is from Best Yet which is a Level One Hostess Set which you can earn for FREE by having a workshop with over $350 in sales.

The  jazzed up card is done in Baja Breeze, Lovely Lilac and Whisper White. I used DSP from Ski Slopes, also in the Spring Mini.  The long ornaments I stamped out in blue on the white card and cut out. Next the strings were stamped on the background and then the long ornaments glued in place. The middle ornament I stamped out 3 times, scored down the middle, folded  and mounted back to back and then on to the card. I glittered this ornament with Dazzling Diamonds before I mounted it too.

I have just learnt how to make the Bag in a Box. It is so cool!! and very easy once you figure out how.Make them as plain or fancy as you like.

• 1. Cut a base of 4 1/2″ square score at 1″ in from every edge and crease
• 2. At each corner make a snip along one of the sides of the small square formed by the scoring, only as far as the scored inner square to form a flap at each corner for gluing the base together. And then glue  in place to form tray base
• 3. Cut a piece 5 1/2″ X 11” of patterned paper to fit around the base.  Add tape around the outside each of the base or the inside lower edge of the patterned paper
• 4. Add a strip of tape up the inside of one of the 5 1/2″ sides
• 5.     Remove tape from lower edge and adhere patterned paper to tray base midway across the back starting with the edge WITHOUT the tape on. Remove the side edge tape when you have it wrapped round and stick together.
• 6.   Cut a strip long enough to go around the base of the tray   part. Cut one edge with a border punch if desired and adhere in place
• 7.    Punch out 2 Round tabs, scallop circles or any other similar punch that can be folded in half symetrically add tape and stick in place on Centre front and back of bag. Punch a hole with Horizontal slit or normal hole punch to thread ribbon through to close after you have filled the bag.

I usually stay well away from ORANGE but I was feeling brave and I wanted to use this lovely paper from the Washington Apple Pack. I made a matching card using nearly all DSP which is again something out of the ordinary for me. I do love double sided paper, it makes life so much easier. The red double stitched look paper is the other side of the floral. I stamped and cut out the butterfly from Great Friend which has been a wonderful set I will be sad to see it be retired on November 30th. The release date for the Summer Mini Catalogue creeps ever clo. Here’s the only  sneak preview of a product your going to get from me. Now anyway.

1 3/4″ Circle Punch! This will be great for those bigger images and framing the smaller ones.

I had a lovely time experimenting with my friend Anne today and one of the things I played with was the Corner Rounder. I know what your thinking… How Exciting but it was! There was a challenge on the NZSU website a couple of weeks ago and I didnt get a chance to do it so today was the day for my first window card. The Corner Rounder was one of the misprints in the current IB&C, they forgot to put it in COMPLETELY! So here is what you need to know to order yours: 3/16″ Corner Rounder  109047 $15.95.

I used my brand new 1 3/4″ Circle Punch to punch out a circle from the front of a matted cardstock A5 card and then did the same thing to a piece of Real Red cardstock punching it about 1″ in from the edge. Here comes the Corner Rounder bit! To make the scallop edge around the circle remove the plastic guide from around your punch.Holding it upside down guide the card in right up to the back of the punch make your first cut. Then I cut around the circle  so I could move the punch around it at about the same depth to cut the rest of the scallops. To make the next scallop line the left end of the corner rounder with the right end  of the last scallop, punch. Repeat this overlapping cut right around the circle until you can’t fit anymore on your circle. Sometimes they dont quite meet up so just use scissors to snip the card to join them up. Hope this makes sense really its just a matter of playing a bit. If you are just adding a straight scallop edge or scallop edge on a full circle it will be a bit easier.

He’s a dude!

I just love this Seaons Surfing set. Its fun and funky and very suited to our New Zealand Christmas Weather. Not a snowflake in sight! I dlike to share this card I made with you its one of my recent favourites.

I used the Slit punch to make a cut out scallop border which I laered to give a wave effect.  Santa and his little speed demon friend I stamped watercolouered with my ink pads and blender pens then cut out to mount slightly behind the waves.

Here he is a bit closer up and you can see the wave detail better. For this card I used Very Vanilla, Bashful Blue and Pacific Point cardstock. Oh so many inks including Ruby Red, Kiwi Kiss, Taken with Teal and Creamy Caramel. Seasons Surfing Set from Spring Mini and hostess set Best Yet for the sentiment. Also Large Oval, Scallop Oval and Slit punches. Blender Pens for watercolouring.

Hey remember me

Between computer glitches and preparing for my open day and working it has been  a busy week so I aplogise for being a bit slack on the blogging front. The good news is I have  HEAPS of projects to show you! But first thank  you to those of  you who popped along to my Spring Mini Launch Open Day yesterday. Heres a pic of the display table and over the coming days i will share the cards I made for the display.

Checkout this Designer Series 12X12 paper. Its called Ski Slope and looks so much nicer in real life than it does in the catalogue. I wasnt sure about it in the catalogue but knew I had to have it when I got it in my hands.

Im Back!!

Hi People I apologise for taking so long to post i know you will have missed your daily dose of DaffyScarapping and Stamping. Im all set up on my laptop now and have finally had a chance to create tonight So heres a little something for you to look at till I get some more pages done. Tomorrow I might even show you what I did with one of the soon to be released stamp sets. You’ll have to welcome me back appropriately though cos I know you missed me.

To You card and Baggie – I used the So Swirly Wheel, flower from Baroque Motifs and To You from the hostess set Best Yet. Punches used were slit punch to make the scalloped edge on the bag 1\” circle to round end of To You sentiment and scallop circle for under cut out flowers stamp. Colours are Apricot Appeal, Very Vanilla and Basic Black ink and brads.

I wasnt entirely happy with the first colourway so I tried it with Very Vanilla, Basic Black ink and In Colour Pacific Point. Much better

Im back!

Come on admit it! You missed me. I had a great day at the Scrappin Patch Crop Day in Rangiora on Saturday and a nice quiet couple of days by myself. It was great to meet some of my forum pals, Hi girls! and meet some new ladies too. I got a lovely page kit designed by the very talented Annelie. I of course had to tweak it to suit myself but the bones remain the same.

I also got my “In the Spotlight” Pack and started designing layouts with it. Now you cant see the layouts yet but you can see the pack

Included is some Swiss Dot cardstock, papers from the prima paper stack Sacha and some flowers etc

I had a little experiment with a card pattern I had seen too. It was very quick and very easy but quite effective I think.
