Come on people, admit it, way in the back of those cupboards are some old letter stencils! I had forgotten all about mine until last night when I was puzzling over what letter dies I was going to use on a layout when I had a thought. Admittedly I was getting pretty tired .. read lazy.. so I couldnt be bothered getting out my Big Shot and cutting numbers and letters so this seemed like an easy solution. In my own defence I had just made my own DSP to use! Another great budget tip – its easy and your colours always match when you stamp your own!
Here is the Project Life card I made using an old stencil and my Project Life No.5 Jornaling Pen. I love these pens and they come in two thicknesses, the No. 1 is really fine for writing and the No. 5 is chunkier but still good for journaling.
And to see the whole page. I used two stamp sets for my DIY paper, Flower Patch and Love Sparkles.
Flower Patch # 134207 Love Sparkles – W #143114 CM #143183 Photopolymer $54 Wood $61 Clear Mount $44
Ive been working on a wee project, which I cant show you yet, so I had a nicely stamped project life card sitting on my desk which in the end I decided not to use. Then when I was flicking through some challenge sites I spotted this one from CAS(E) This sketch
Well I flipped that sucker on its head and here is what I came up with!
Here is a closer look at the original PL cards (3X4″)
Can you see the darker shadowing on the screwdriver and hammer handles? I used my Tip Top Taupe Inkpad and a blender pen to add some depth to them. I used the same method to colour all the tools and added fussy cut handles stamped tone on tone. Not too bad! The stamp set is my new Nailed It one. The colours are Dapper Denim, Real Red and Tip Top Taupe.
If you’re anything like me then the budget is very slim at this time of the year and the bills will start mounting as soon as school starts up again. Im sure with the new Occasions catalogue you all have a wishlist a mile long and a great way to make a dent in that is to join Stampin’ Up! as an Independent Demonstrator! You can earn money to not only support your “papercrafting habit” but also to help with the bills and those extras that pop up. The minimum spend for staying current is about $180 (retail) a month or $520 a Quarter. There are a few different ways to achieve that:
Stampin’ Addict – Spend it all yourself – You’re worth it!
Social Butterfly – Throw Stampin’ Parties yourself or for lucky hostesses
Select Friends – Get together with a few like minded friends and place orders together.
Take a look HERE for more or HERE for more detailed info or to sign up.
The bes bit is that during Sale-A-Bration you get EXTRA stamp sets for FREE when you sign up!
Its as easy as 1 2 3 Join
I don’t often do layouts with just one big photo, I’m usually more of a “How many can I cram onto the page?” kind of girl so this took a bit of concentration to do. The stamp sets I used were Flower Patch and Mixed Borders. The sentiments are great in that set and worked perfectly here.
The paper is from the Annual Catalogue and is a stack called Playful Palette. I love the stacks as they have 48 sheets and even at the smaller size of 6X6″ can be used on a 12X12 layout. Here is a close up of the cluster detail.
All of these products can be ordered from me either via a personal order through me or my online store. There is a link to my online store down the right hand side of my page so you can order any time from anywhere in New Zealand.
Here is a quick wee card I put together as a customer thank you using Vertical Greetings and our Notecards. I was so pleased to see a set with vertical sentiments as sometimes horizontal just doesnt look right.
Two years ago I created a digitally scrap booked album for my son’s 21st. I wanted to print one of the layouts for my own album but 12X12 single layouts are really expensive to print so I got a smaller 8X8 softcover album printed with that layout and some others I had done digitally. I cut out each layout and incorporated them into a 12X12 layout for my album.
This one I matted on some Garden Green and then on to a Pool Party stamped background using Timeless Textures. Simple but quite effective. I did the same thing with this layout but treated the digital print as I would a photo I was scrapbooking. You might remember seeing that page a few years ago when I did it, so pleased to finally get it in my album.
I was asked recently (twice actually) to make cards for ladies who had lost babies. As a Mother I can understand the pain and loss of losing a baby whether they have been in your arms for a time or just nestled in your belly. These are some of the very hardest cards to make and the hardest words to find. This card was accompanied by a remembrance candle too.
I adore the Cookie Cutter Christmas Stamp set and I was so pleased to see it and its matching punch had carried over into the new Occasions catalogue. Here is a quick card I made using the gingerbread man. Ive used this layout before and it is an easy one to adapt to all sorts of images.
Another gorgeous card using Hey Chick today. I just adore this funky fluffy headed chicken. You cant really see the full glory of her colouring or the sparkle I added with my clear Wink of Stella pen but you get the idea. I took the colour inspiration from the Washi Tape I used along the bottom of the card. I love my markers but I cant wait to get some of our new watercolour pencils. Check them out on page 24.
I seem to be really loving the faux stitched look this week too but it just added that little sum sum the card needed. The sentiments are from the Love Sparkles Stamp set on page 53
This stamp set is going to be one of the top freebies for SaleABration this year! Hey Chick! How stinking cute are these girls?
