Cards Fancy Folds, Christmas, Punch Art

Nativity Scene Punch Art

This is a card I made to enter in our local A&P Show (Agricultrual and Pastoral for those of you who didnt know). Lucky for me I got First Prize for it. I hadnt done any punch art in ages so this was fun! I also got to use a Fancy Fold I enjoyed last Christmas too, the double gate fold. Its amazing what you can do with a few punches, some card, sponges and some markers

Fancy Goose

I did this one a wee while ago but never got round to posting it at the time. It is one of my favourites. I love the colours Crisp Cantaloupe and Early Espresso with touches of Pistachio Pudding with the Wetlands Stamp set. Sound good enough to eat!

I havent finished the front with a sentiment yet but will put it on the horizontal panel.

Still not sure I will ever part with this one but its a fun wee fold so give it a go.

Simple Star Card with Santa

How cute is this! I used the largest star framelit and cut two pieces then scored an inch or so down from the top peak  of the back piece, glued this to the front to form a hinge.

I cut a smaller star from the Trim the Tree DSP stack and added a dashed border on both star edges. Santa and Joy are both popped up with dimensionals and lastly I added a wee Bakers twine bow. This would make a great tree decoaration too.

Sliding Santa

Hi folks here is a card I did for a recent team swap. This was the first time I have made one of these sliding cards and with the great instructions I used from Julie Davison of Julie’s Stampin’ Spot it was pretty easy.

P1020884Here it is closed. I used Real Red and Lost Lagoon cardstock and of course my new Get Your Santa On stamp set. One of the great things about this Photopolymer set is there are heaps of “supporting” stamps to go with the big images.

P1020885And open you see Santa disappearing up the chimney. Cute Huh!

Same card different colours

Catchy title huh! I’m Brain dumb as I now have a cold but I am making the supreme effort to post something for you lovely people!

Can you spot the two new in colours Lost Lagoon and Blackberry Bliss teamed up with Blushing Bride. Hasnt photographed as well as it looks in real life but you get the idea. You can also see how easy it is to make your own background papers using stamps, this time it was various images from Gorgeous Grunge.

Dont fall off your seats

Yes I have managed to write a post for you today! Life has been very busy with a new schedule  for work and I have been singularly unable to motivate myself to create. I have made a few cards in the last couple of days and all but one have been a struggle to make even with some new product from the catalogue that is about to be released Jul 2.

I grabbed two challenges to help me along. Try Stamping on Tuesday for a sketch and Colour Throwdown for colours obviously. And trying a new cards style always helps. I quite like this one its called a block card I think but there are a few different versions of it.

Sketch 38-001              swatch+297

I used a new stamp set called Something to Say and a matching punch for the sentiments and flowers. Other Stamp sets used were Everything Eleanor and Gorgeous Grunge. Here are some more photos to see the fancy fold.

Dungarees Card For Patricia

P1020320 (466x640)

Back in November I posted this card and recently a lady called Patricia asked if I had a template for it but I never made one at the time and have since given the card away so I had to start all over again. Unfortunately I am still very unfamiliar with my new laptop and my printer/scanner doesn’t seem to like it  so I couldn’t scan in my template. I have taken a photo of it and if you save it to your computer and print out on an A4 sheet it will be a pretty close copy.

The blue bit should be placed on an A4 cut in half  lengthwise and then folded in half. You can see the areas on the sheet where the fold will lie.  I used the Tag punch to get the nice shape at the sides of the dungarees and for the pocket. the Straps are a 2 cm strip rounded using the wide arc of the Small Oval Punch

Hope this helps Patricia, I would love to see your card if you have a go!

Edited: Thanks to some new software my scanner is back in business

P.S this is New Zealand size A4 so 21 X29.7 cm

Happy Birthday Baby Girl

Its hard to believe my youngest baby turns 9 today! Where has the time gone. It occurred to me at abt 11pm last night I hadn’t made her a card. Its your typical ” mechanic has car the breaks down all the time” or  “builder has lots of fix it jobs undone at home” syndrome. You know card maker doesn’t have the card made. So its 11 pm and I going “Oh, woe is me, whatever shall I do?” and then I remembered a card I had seen recently by Tamsin Adams. What really jumped out at me was it had 9 candles and my girl was 9, Go Figure! These card- in- a- box cards are pretty cool  and I have tried the larger version already which doesn’t fit in our SU A6 envelopes. Now IF it hadn’t been 11 pm at night I MAY have figured out that it didn’t matter if it fitted in an envelope or not because I didn’t need to post it. DUH! Anyway with this in mind I thought I would try the smaller version that Tanya Bell had done a video for which DID fit in the envelope. Here is what I came up with

The base card is Early Espresso and the papers are from the Fresh Prints Paper Stack, I love the colours and patterns in there. I even used my new stamp set Spiral Spins which I think is going to be a useful wee one.And here it is closed up with a view of the back and one side.

And closed up with a view of the front and one side and the two flap folded down. The candles were punched with Word Window Punch and the flames were trimmed from a petal of the Petite Petals Punch. They were put together on a strip of transparency sheet before being mounted on the card.DSCF4111

The important thing was my girl loved it and because of the design these cards are nice to have on display for a while too. She also though she could keep it for a while because it would be good for her 69th birthday too – see picture above left. Kids, you never know what will come out of their mouths!

Cards Fancy Folds, Christmas

Success! Now I can share…..

I finally found the cord to get photos off my phone, Hooray! Now I can share these cool Christmas cards I gave to my nieces and the one I gave my Mum.

I will start with Mums, I wanted something a little bit special for her (love my Mum, I do : ) This is the smaller version of the retired Dasher stamp that is included in the Best Of …. Christmas Stamp set. This is still available until April this year you can order it using the code # 134384 and it is $31.95 and available only in Clearmount.

Now my niece’s cards were a bit more exciting as they were interactive. A wee while ago I had cut a heap of card blank to make cards that had a pocket for a gift card but I never used all of them. Oh what to do?! Well turn them upside down and inside out of course so the pocket was at the top!

I did trim a bit off the bottom so that the card would still fit in our standard envelopes.

1389520388498           1389520394391

See the wee stash of play bits tucked in the top. The card on the left uses a retired stamp set called Scentsational Season. Don’t you love the way that using the Word Window punch to do the sentiment on the front makes it look like the Gingerbread man is holding a sign. The second card used my favourite set from this pat Christmas, Color Me Christmas which meant I was able to create some figures my niece could colour in and then with the little stands I added arrange them in a little tableau when the card was standing open.
