New ATC feature

I have been doing ATC challenges with my Swap Sisters on Wednesday nights for the last couple of weeks so Im thinking why not post them on Thursdays to share my miniature art works.

For those of you who dont know what an ATC is, here is an explanation.

Artist Trading Cards are “miniature works of Art” similar to old sports-themed trading cards. Really the only rules measure 2.5X3.5″, made by you and that they must be swapped not be sold.  On the back of each ATC the artist writes part or all of the following information: name, contact information, title of the ATC and number (1/8, 2/8…)ie no 1 of 8 cards made in this design. The ones I will be showing you will be originals mostly meaning there are the only one made verse Editions where you might make 5 or 10 indentical cards to swap with other people and add to your collection. That is why they are called  TRADING cards. If you made 5 then keep one for yourself and swap the other four with other artists.

Right that is the background now here is the card. Often you can find and particiapte in organised swaps which have a theme. This weeks theme was Ocean Inspired. Lots of the ladies were inspired by Mermaids but I wa thinking a little more laterally……

Dude! ocean inspired ATC

I love this penguin dude hes been in my stash for a long time and I have his sister too. I didnt have any beachy current Su sets so resorted to the retired Just Beachy set for the sun and fish and a stampin wheel with shells on it. The ripped waves are Bashful Blue, Whisper White and Tempting Turquoise. I used the large oval to pucnh out his surf board and added a tiny starfish for interest. The surfboard is popped up with some glue dots and the shell is attached with one too.

The biggest challenge with ATC’s is working in the small space but you can use any page or card sketch to help you layout the areas. You can also add as much dimension as you like but the cards must be sturdy enough that you can post them if need be.

Check in next week to see what I create for the next challenge.
